Well the satellite comes and goes
We give each other all we know
In silence we still talk
By the light of the stereo waltz
And will you rain down
In your cinematic love truck
I want to hold you like nothing's going stop us
She come to take me away
Its all that I needed
I don't breathe another lover
Flicker on a TV screen
Everything's more than it seems
The mighty backward fall
Stare at the lights on the wall
I swear to this
She felt like velvet
Second blond child she meant it
She come to take me away
Its all that I needed
I don't breathe another lover
I'm an alien
You're an alien
It's a beautiful rain,
Beautiful rain
Beautiful rain

General Comment:i love this song, i used to hate. I'm a hard core bush fan, i thought that this was one of their dumbest songs. But then, i started to listen to it, over and over again. and i relized how beautiful it is. It's not your typical mushy love song, but it is a mushy love song, just different. It's absolutely great. It talks about something that almost all of us have experienced, and that is love. They describe it in such a great and powerful way. plus, every bush song is awesome, but this one is just at the top of the list. And the music in the back round is amazing. a must-listen to bush song.

General Comment:i agree with ashley!! BUSH NEEDS MORE COMMENTS!!
i signed up solely to give my views on the complete fucking genius songs!!

this song, like most of bush stuff, is so metaphorically involved that it would be impossible to give one "correct" meaning.

its definately about those silent times with a lover.. but it goes deeper..

"satelites come and go" - satelites of pain, the realisation comes and goes

"i'm an alien, you're an alien" - meant to be together - 2 people

    "beautiful rain" - beautiful feeling/realisation

"second blonde child" - a contrast from the fact that thay're both aliens.. also - a child is born every 1/4 of a second.. there's 4 main hair colours.. therefore a blonde child is born every second.. "blonde" is considered beautiful - aryans! everyone else is beautiful and "feels like velvet" whereas we're "aliens"..

    just my views!!

    General Comment:I love this song!
I think this song is about two people in love, and nothing else matters but the other person. The world could be ending behind them, but as long as they have each other, nothing else matters. Not a typical love song, that's what makes it so great. It's not like "Oh, I love you so much, Let's live together, we can have sex and have little babies" It's about that one moment when you're holding the person you love in your arms and nothing matters except that moment.
    Great song!

General Comment:I agree with treestump..."Stare at the light on the wall" Those moments where you're just holding eachother and you don't have to talk or makeout or anything, and those times are great.

The other thing I get from it is "I'm an alien, you're an alien, it's a beautiful rain" Like maybe they both don't fit in with the crowd, but it doesn't matter they have eachother, and the rain looks better when you're in love.

    Damn I miss alt-rock.

General Comment:I love it from beggining to end. Its a beautiful rain...it is.
I seem to comprehend Bush's songs when I'm singing them as loud as my out of key, distorted voice can handle. Its more in the way he says it then in what he says.

When you look back at the words in black and white, all the magic is taken away. Crank the stereo until the distortion vibrates your soul to tears.

And by the way, I hate that they are popular for his looks as I am a avid music lover, a guy, and a DMB fan. People give me bad looks when I say Bush is one of my favorite all timers. As my brother says, "Gavin just cranks out some chords and calls it a day".
