"Main Man" as written by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin....
Are you my main man
Are you now are you now
Are you my Main Man
Are you now are you now
Are you now

Are you a God man
Are you now are you now
Are you a frog man
Are you now are you now
Are you now

Heaven is hot babe
Everso everso
Heaven is hot babe
Watch it glow watch it glow
Watch it glow

Bolan likes to rock now
Yes he does yes he does
Bolan likes to rock now
Yes he does, yes he does

Is there a sane man
Anywhere anywhere
Got giraffes in my hair
And I don't care
No I don't care,
no I don't care

As a child I laughed a lot
O yes I did O yes I did
Now it seems I cry a lot
O tell me true don't you

General CommentThere is another version with more lyrics . .

including calling out Elton John, "Are you my main man, Elton John?" sounds out of context at first, but then it sounds like he is challenging Elton to declare himself, as though that were necessary . .

General CommentBolan's own commentary: "..a song about me 'As a child I laughed a lot, now it seems I cry a lot'. I've never cried so much in my whole life as this last year. 'Giraffes in my hair', that's a 'Top of the Pops' flash about having giraffes coming out of the top of my head. I thought it would be funky... I'm weird, man, let's go." - source, sleeve notes to the alternate Slider.
