I wasn't looking for a lifetime with you
And I never thought it would hurt just to hear
"I do" and "I do"
And I do a number on myself
And all that I thought to be
And you'll be the one
That just left me undone
By my own, hesitation

And for the million hours that we were
Well I'll smile and remember it all
Then I'll turn and go
While your story's completed mine is a long way from done.

[Chorus]
Well I'm on a champagne high
Where will I be when I stop wondering why
On a champagne high
I'd toast to the future but that'd be a lie
On a champagne high, high

Spring turned to summer
But then winter turned to mean
The distance seemed right
At the time it was best - to leave
And to leave behind
What I once thought was fine And so real - to me
And while I'm still gone
On the quest for my song
I'm at your - celebration

And for the million hours that we were
Well I'll smile and remember it all
Then I'll turn and go
While your story's completed mine is a long way from done.

[Chorus]

Your wagons been hitched to a star
Well now he'll be your thing that's new
Yeah what little I have you can borrow
'Cause I'm old and I'm blue

And for the million hours that we were
Well I'll smile and remember it all
Then I'll turn and go
While your story's completed mine is a long way from done.

Well I'm on a champagne high (so high)
Where will I be when I stop wondering why
On a champagne high (so high)
Toast to the future but that'd be a lie
On a champagne high
Where will I be when I stop wondering why
On a champagne high, high,
So high so high you left me undone
So high, so high you left me undone

this song is about a breakup. it's not that sad, though. I mean, it's sad ... but not whiney

I think that this song is about Ken (the lead singer) at the wedding a someone who he used to be in love with. I think that they are still friends, but he is sitting at her wedding reflecting on how her life is complete but his is still unfinnished i.e.- "while your story's completed mine is a long way from done." This is a truly amazing and beautiful song about a guy who just wasn't ready for a life-time commitment, and his girlfriend left him to find someone who could give her what she really needed. The background vocal are amazing too...the song sounds great with the girl's voice sailing over the chorus.

i agree with txsnowbunny. it's definitely him at her wedding "and I never thought it would hurt just to hear "I do" and "I do"" and "I'm at your - celebration" and "Your wagons been hitched to a star Well now he'll be your thing that's new" this song is so pretty

this song is definitely about a guy who goes to the wedding of his ex. he never wanted to get married, but there's a hint of regret ("you'll be the one that just left me undone by my own hesitation") in his voice. he's trying to be happy for her, but he's still so hurt by their break up that he gets himself drunk on champagne. there's an old wedding rhyme that says the bride should wear something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.. ken sings, "he'll be your thing that's new. yeah, what little i have you can borrow, cuz i'm old and i'm blue". its a very, very emotional song.

all I know is that this song rrepresented my break-up with my ex, last year. the line "i wasn't looking for a lifetime with you..." that really just said it all...and at times made me cry. but hey whatever thats life

I always thought It was about someone dieing. Like how it says "Your storys compeleted but mine is a long way from done." I mean when someone dies their story ir life is over but, your still there and ur a ways away from dieing.

hey, this is a sad song but it's made good cause the guy is happy for her, and he isn't too whiney like catherineks said. It's bittersweet.

This is an awesome song, even though it can be kinda depressing. It's sweet in a strange way though, because even though there's regret in the lyrics, there's hope for her future. Like starlight said, emotional.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
