The freeway is jammed and it's backed up for miles
The car is an oven and baking is wild
Nothing is ever the way it should be
What we deserve we just don't get, you see

A briefcase, a lunch, and a man on the edge
Each step gets closer to losing his head
Is someone in heaven? Are they looking down?
Nothing is fair, you look around

Falling down
Falling down
Falling down

Falling down
Falling down
Falling down

He's sick of waiting, of lying like this
There's a hole in the sky for the angels to kiss
Branded a leper because you don't fit
In the land of the free you just live by your wits

Once he built missiles, a nation's defense
Now he can't even give birthday presents
Across the city he leaves in his wake
A glimpse of the future, a cannibal state

Falling down
Falling down
Falling down

Falling down
Falling down
Falling down

The freeway is jammed and it's backed up for miles
The car is an oven and baking is wild
Nothing is ever the way it should be
What we deserve we just don't get, you see

A briefcase, a lunch, and a man on the edge
Each step gets closer to losing his head
Is someone in heaven? Are they looking down?
Nothing is fair, just you look around

Falling down
Falling down
Falling down

Falling down
Falling down
Falling down

Falling down
Falling down
Falling down

Falling down
Falling down
Falling down

"A divorced engineer for the defense industry gets stuck in L.A. traffic and finally snaps. He gets out of his car and begins a walk through central L.A., where he encounters various levels of harassment, which he learns to deal with by acquiring weapons along the way. His actions attract the attention of a retiring cop, and he gets involved with the case, following the engineer's path toward Venice, where his daughter is having a birthday party."

From the film, Falling Down staring Micheal Douglas. Great film and a good song to go with it.

This song is great! Wicked solo, and the singer is not bad.

I thought it was "gaze" at the end of that line, but just said in such a way it rhymed with "this" :S

Baylay wasn't a bad singer, he just got sick all the time and couldn't tour much. Then again, Bruce's voice tends to die out in about half the songs they play live. Truthfully, I don't think Bruce could sing this song better than Baylay because it's meant for a deeper voice than what Bruce usually sings. At the same time, Baylay can't really sing most of the early Maiden songs because he's too deep.

I liked Bayley, a lot. I think he was as good as Paul Di'Anno, maybe even better. But Bruce IS the best they've had. I heard a version with Bruce [rock in rio] & I liked it more than the recording. Bayley's vocals are good, but fall short to Bruce's. If you heard Bruce's versions of Bayley songs, you'd agree with me that Bruce sings with more passion, like he connects with every song [which is pretty scary with songs like "Sign of the Cross" shudder], but yeah. This song is very awesome. Love it to death. :D

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
