"Another Life" as written by and Stephen Percy Harris....
As I lay here lying on my bed
Sweet voices come into my head.
Oh what it is, I want to know
Please won't you tell me it's got to go.
There's a feeling that's inside me
Telling me to get away.
But I'm so tired of living
I might as well end today.

As I lay here lying on my bed
Sweet voices come into my head.
Oh what it is, I want to know
Please won't you tell me it's got to go.
There's a feeling that's inside me
Telling me to get away.
But I'm so tired of living
I might as well end today.

As I lay here lying on my bed
Sweet voices come into my head.
Oh what it is, I want to know
Please won't you tell me it's got to go.
There's a feeling that's inside me
Telling me to get away.
But I'm so tired of living
I might as well end today.

My InterpretationI always thought it was about a guy just living from day to day, doing nothing because he has nothing to do. All he does is sleep and dream. He has an actual dream to do something, and he gets this urge to get up and do it, but he can't figure out what it is he wants to do so the urge simply frustrates him or drives him crazy. In the end, he's sick of living this way but can't see any way out of it, so he simply goes back to sleep, to dream of greater things again.

General CommentReally classic IM. Its almost straight out punk in the middle, but when the guitars get a bit more complicated, that subsides a bit.

Why do people always assume its teenagers commiting suicide?? LOL
where does it say anything about teenagers...

Get off my lawn!! Damn kids and your.. music!!

    General CommentAgree with logikmtr.
Kind off related to suicide but not only teenagers.. Anyone having a suicide tendency.
Also this theme matches to the concept of the Killers album in which all songs are related to death in one way or other...
Again a great song from this stunning album.

General CommentExcellent song, he repeats the verse 2 other times to show the futility of his lif and wanting/wishing for another one, aside from the dark lyrics the music is excellent and sounds like early Metallica/megadeth/Anthrax/Overkill/Testament/Kreator/Exodus/Slayer and many other Thrash bands that started around this period, which helps that Maiden did influence most of these bands. Maiden rules

General CommentBruce Dickinson, Maiden's vocalist, revealed the meaning of this one while doing the intro on the live album "Beast Over Hammersmith", from '82. Although he doesn't mention how the guy died, he does say ". . . It's a song about a gentleman who goes up top, then comes back down to have another go at life." Sounds to me like it could be about a guy who dies before his fate is fully served on Earth, so he's sent back down to complete it.

    General CommentSong is about suicide...

but the speed and sound of the song just makes me get up and get out to do something...

Imagine driving on a highway while listening to this song, you will definitely step on the gas more...

    Great song altogether...
