"Taking It All Too Hard" as written by and Michael/collins Rutherford....
No not this confused again
No not the same mistakes again.
You're taking it all to heart
You're taking it all too hard

Why can't you see what's going on?
I know you'd never admit
You would ever be to blame
Everything's a game to you
The old days are gone
And they're better left alone
I cannot help you, it's much too late

No not this confused again
No not the same mistakes again.
You're taking it all to heart
You're taking it all too hard

There's always a reason why it happened
You never never did anything wrong, but it
It just happened to fall apart
You're taking it all too hard

Now that it's dark, all of your fears,
Like shadows creeping around.
You're much too scared to look down
And it's lonely out on your own

The old days are gone
And they're better left alone
But I still miss you
I keep it to myself

Oh no not this confused again
Oh no not the same mistakes again
You're taking it all to heart
You're taking it all too hard

Oh no not this confused again
Oh no not the same mistakes again
You're taking it all to heart
You're taking it all too hard
You're taking it all to heart
You're taking it all too hard

General CommentThe song is about a past relationship that started good but took a bad turn. He's thinking he wants to go back to her, but decides "the old days are gone."

General CommentFor the longest I thought Phil was saying either "heart" or "hard" but not both. I love that both of them fit. I can relate to this song a lil' bit b/c I was in a relationship that kept starting and stopping and starting again. It's a relief that it has stopped for good and him and I are just long distance friends. Phil's saying that he doesn't want the girl to take it too hard and not to take it to heart, or be devastated.

General CommentAbout how the only certainty in life is change and how the inability to accept it often leads to relationships failing... whether it's people in a love affair breaking up, or a band evolving their sound, song-writing methods etc and an element of their fanbase not being able to accept it.

General CommentSometimes it's no possible to NOT take it all too hard, or to heart. Which I didn't know he said both either!
