Bells ring into the night
Sounds like a mistress on a rainy night
Hold your throw down together
And see the light that goes away
Leave my heart down by the water
He spins inside my soul
It isn't true but you follow
Just hold me down by the water

They say you look like a believer
Look up to see the weakness in the sky
Nobody's out to buy your story
Nobody wants to know your reason why
Hold your hands out towards the water
In front of me to know I'm with you
Don't put it all into your hero
Look on if you believe
Look on if you believe
Look on if you believe

Don't want to say that I'm through with it
Just want to be right by your side
Right by your side

I think this is about her guy cheating on her.

Bells ring into the night Sounds like a mistress on a rainy night Hold your throne down together And see the light that goes away Leave my heart down by the water Leave space inside my soul It isn't true about your father Just hold me down by the water (the phone rings and its seems to be a woman. She follows him and watches the lights turn off in some room where he went as he cheats on her. He is taking control or the throne in their relationship by deciding to have a relationship with someone else. she is standing in the rain probably crying or standing by a pier somewhere. Seeing this makes her feel empty inside. the lie he told about going to see his father is not true. she just wants him to hold her as she feels so alone.)

They say look like a believer Look up to see the witness in the sky Nobody's out to buy your story Nobody wants to know your reason why Hold your hands out towards the water In front of me to know I'm with you Don't put it all into your hero Look on if you believe Look on if you believe Look on if you believe (either they say you should live a good life or she has been believing him, look up and see God watching you. nobody is going to believe his lies anymore or care why he did what he did. she wants him to feel the rain on his hands and know that those are all of her tears about what he is doing and that her heart is breaking because it is still with him. or possibly she means she wants him to reach out to her and tell her the truth because he knows she loves him. the part means don't love a person blindly and in your head make them into something they are not. either she can't believe she's seeing what is happening to her or she thinks you should watch a person and see who they really are instead of loving the idea of who they are so that you love someone for who they are, not who you think they are and then get your heart broken.)

Don't want to say that I'm through with it Just want to be right by your side Right by your side (she is in denial about what is happening and just wants him to hold her again as she feels so alone and unloved. she wants this to all be a horrible nightmare that she wakes up from to find out its not true. even though she knows she should end things with him she just wants feel like she belongs again.)

its a really deep song with some intentional contradictions that show how our emotions can be juxtaposed against each other leaving us confused about how we feel or what we should do.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
