Well there's a feelin' in the air
Just like a Friday afternoon
Yeah you can go there if you want
Though it fades too soon
So go on, let it be

If there's a feelin' coming over me
Seems like it's always understood this time of year
Well I know there's a reason to change
Well I know there's a time for us

Think about the good times and you live with all the bad
You can feel it in the air
Feelin' right this time of year
Well there's a football in the air
Across the leaf-blown field
Yeah, and there's your first car on the road
And the girl you steal
So go on, if you fell

If there's a feelin' that there's somethin' else
Seems like it's always understood this time of year
Well I know there's a reason to change (this time of year)
Yeah I know there's a time for us (this time of year)
Think about the good times but you live with all the bad (this time of year)

You can feel it in the air
Feelin' right this time of year
Well there's a feelin' in the air
Just like a Friday afternoon
Yeah you can go there if you want
Thought it fades too soon
So go on, let it be

If there's a feelin' comin' over me
Seems like it's always understood this time of year
Well I know there's a reason to change (this time of year)
Yeah I know there's a time for us (this time of year)
Ya think about the good times, and you live with all the bad (this time of year)

You can feel it in the air
Feel it in the air
Yeah I can feel it in the air
Well I can feel it in the air
Yeah you can feel it in the air
Feelin' right this time of year

I can remember listening to this song driving to the lake, or headed out to Colorado. Theres just this feeling you get, like just before it rains. Its almost indescribable and this song just tops it off. It helps you feel that way any time. This is a truely great song, way to go BTE

this song makes me cry. seriously. It is about how the great life doesn't last. but it is definatly my favorite of thiers to perform myself. It also makes me miss the south, where it is like this year round.

you think about the good times and you live with all the bad. how truer can a song get? for me this song is about the cycles of sadness, that you can predict it coming like the seasons, or the weather. and there's really no escape. this song is painfully sad, whenever im alone this song invariably plays in my mind.

There's also a second version of this song available on BTE's Greatest Hits album...

the main difference is that they stick in the first verse to "Get You In" after the second chorus..

I sit and watch your flowers wilting in the kitchen I felt like I was one of them gasping for air I go from room to room hoping to find your presence I play my music louder than you like me to

This is an incredible song either way you hear it

I love hearing this song in the fall. Even though it's been 10 years since I was in high school, I get this feeling every fall that there's something I need to be doing- I should be at marching band practice! I should be buying school supplies! School is starting. I wonder if this feeling willl come every fall for me. I also know that while I get lost in the nostalgic feeling, it never lasts long- it fades too soon. To firefighter751- enjoy your senior year! Time goes so quickly.

One of my all time favorite songs. The lyrics are general enough for almost anyone to relate to & the music and mood is perfect

another one of my BTE favorites. I call this song my "back-to-college song."

i work in Metro Manila (philippines) but every friday, i have to go back to UPLB (3 hour ride), just to relax, and relive college..and i just love listening to this song on the road.

it's like someone's telling me that "it's okay, go on. have fun". And I listen to it over and over, with some of the tracks on my player. I just can't get enough of it.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
