Mad in a way but I don't say
It's what you're used to
I got the words but can't convey
I know you'll turn it all around
It's the rhythm that you go through

Get it back and you're not obliged to say
Not intact but you're better off anyway
Somehow it's never up to me
What if I would say
Simple words I can't relate
I don't place upon your view
It's the rhythm that you go through

I know what I want
You just take me through the motions
I know what I want
And that's more than you can say

Since you found me out, since you found me out
Since you found me out, since you found me out

Your story still remains
It's so unlike you, still you stay the same
But all the while you're counting in your day to come
But nothing ever told you

You would say that it's only for a day
Yesterday's last week tomorrow's on it's way
I'm falling faster all the time

What if I would say
Simple words I can't relate
What came easy's now too late
And it was always standing right in front of me

'Cause I know what I want
You just take me through the motions
I know what I want
And that's more than you can say

All the time you thought worth saving
Still end up with memories fading
After all that you wouldn't do
It makes no sense
It's the rhythm that you go through

I know what I want
You just take me through the motions
I know what I want
And that's more than you can say
I know what I want
You take me through the motions
I know what I want
And that's more than you can say

Since you found me out, since you found me out
Since you found me out, since you found me out

This is definetly my fave Sum 41 song. The music is so awesome and i just love it. I think its about when you first start becoming your own person, like making decisions all by yourself and stuff like that. Kinda like growing up. Like the I know what i want you just take me through the motions part is talking about how you know what you want to do with your life and your ready to do it by yourself but whoever the person is isnt ready to let you yet and so they are still 'going through the motions' with you. I dont know if that is right but its what i think and id like to hear other peoples opionions about this song. But no matter what it means it is a great song and i love it!!!

I think this songs about a bad relationship. He's got a gurlfriend that's holding him back. She won't let him grow and she doesn't know what she wants, even tho he does. He's "going through the motions" and pretending he's still into the relationship when he isn't and he wants something else or soemthing more. He's growing up and she's not... just my opinion.

"I know what I want, You just take me through the motions. I know what I want, And that's more than you can say" My ex played this for me and once he told me this part reminded me of me. He knew I never knew what I wanted.

This song is definitely their best song. Rawker I think your thing is pretty right, but I think that the second person is sort of holding that person back from being what they know they are, because they still don't know yet, and go through different "rhythms" in which they are somewhat different, not knowing if that is really who they are. Just my opinion...

this song reminds me of my friend, He has majorly low self-esteem and he tells me all this stuff like that he's stupid and then when i disagree he tells me to prove it to him and then when i make a point he turns it around and i know what i want to tell him but i can't find the words ... the first verse describes that for me... it makes me mad but of course i don't tell the little twerp that

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
