L-O-L-I-T-A, moi, Lolita

Moi, je m'appelle Lolita
Collégienne aux bas
Bleus de méthylène
Moi, je m'appelle Lolita
Coléreuse et pas
Mi-coton, mi-laine

L-O-L-I-T-A, moi, Lolita
L-O-L-I-T-A, moi, Lolita

L-O-L-I-T-A, moi, Lolita
L-O-L-I-T-A, moi, Lolita
L-O-L-I-T-A, moi, Lolita
L-O-L-I-T-A, moi, Lolita

I am called Lolita Lo or Lola is fine Both are the same to me I am called Lolita When I dream of wolves It is Lola that bleeds When my tongue is forked I have a mad laugh about it Also mad for a phenomenon I am called Lolita Lo to life, lo to 'diluven' love

It is not my fault When I hesitate to reply I see the others All ready to pounce on me It is not MY fault Hello, Helli, you're A (this phrase in french also spells out the word Lolita) Me Lolita

I am called Lolita The worst schoolgirl Mythelene Blue Me, I am called Lolita Quick-tempered and not Mid-cotton, mid-wool I dont tell mama that I am a phenomenon I am called Lolita Lo to life, lo to 'diluven' love

In the video, she's running down the road when a man manages to catch her (he appears to be her boyfriend), he talks to her a bit, then she asks for some money. He gives her the money, then she says 'I'll pay you back' or something like that and runs away.

She runs home where her mother and I'm quessing her younger sister are washing clothes in their back yard. The mother talks to her a bit, then suddenly explodes and starts screaming and throwing stuff around (Lolita didnt say anything, but I cant hear the dialogue over the music). Lolita grabs her sister and is later seen running through a weat field. They arrive at a club and Lolita goes into the back room to put on make up before she comes back out and dances with the rest of the crowd. Her sister is just standing their the entire time watching her (she also starts dancing a bit at the end). Her boyfriend comes in and walks up behind her, and she doesnt seem to mind this at all, despite the fact that they didnt seem to be on good terms at the beginning. At the end of the video, she's shown walking down the road with her sister with her boyfriend walking like 10-20 ft behind them.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
