She was confused and abused in this life
Emotional and violent moments
Seemed to take the longest time
Every single knockout dragout
Fight they ever had. Apologies and
Dignity denied he starts to
Laugh he starts to lie with
Suddenly psychotic eyes.
Every night she cried herself
to sleep she didn't recognize
Her own face in the mirror
Black & blue, so afraid
Intimidation like a child she
Hides away he would always
Try to justify what wasn't true
Justified black eye
Taken for granted she sleeps by
The phone waiting for a call
From him but it seems he's never
Coming home, 14 beers later
He is there without an answer
Once again she questions his
Lies he goes to bed with
No reply
Tomorrow morning different
Story and he'll be a different
Guy, he'll justify her black eye
With another lie. She packs her
bags in great temptation he's on
His knees again he cries a hug
& a kiss and a don't know why as
a tear drops from her swollen eye
Apologies until tonight and another
Justified black eye

This song goes out to all the cocksuckers who are so good, beating a poor girl, who's too involved in love to quit these bastards.

I dedicate this to my best friend's mother. Her boyfriend is a maniuplative, psychotic asshole with severe rage tendencies, and we know that he WILL begin beating her, and she won't do a damn thing about it.

It makes me sad, someone whom I always saw as so strong, trapped in this relationship because she can't cope being alone anymore.

I swear, if we are right, I am going to kill him.

i think ahier316 sums it up... but um...ok yeah cock suckers. they suck big fat cock.
no seriously....beating a chick, no matter what (and me being a chick i have all the more reason to say this) is wrong. don't do it. no matter how much they piss you off. just my 2 cents.

yea i agree with all of u it is absolutely wrong to beat anyone. i mean yea it mostly happens in a relationship and the girl is usually the one gettin beaten. but it is the womens fault. bcuz she's staying like a dumbass hoping he would change. so i mean yea it's only the man's fault until somethin has happened to the woman. but then its the women's fault for staying with him...im a girl myself. but i think it's the women's fault for staying cuz she got what was coming to her...and yea sure if this happend to anyone i know id beat the shit outta the person that did this to him/her. but yea umm i'll stop rambling.

    sad song.

but i don't think the woman that's getting beaten is getting what's coming to her. No one ever deserves that. Yes she should leave him but unless you were ever in that situation I think it's hard to understand their reasoning for staying.

This song means a lot to me because I've had friends get hit by their boyfriends and be too scared to leave them in fear that they'd find them and do something worse.

I'm not much of a tough guy and I'd probably be easy to beat in a fight but if I came across one of these fucking cowards I'd hurt them so bad.

I guess it's not just about beating. It's about a girl who has a relationship with this stupid guy that doesn't care about her. I really do think about what's happening to the girl I like for the moment, she likes one of my friends and he treats her like shit sometimes, even if he does like her. And she's so naive so the guy can do whatever he wants, and then there is just a simple "I'm sorry", and she'll accept it and go on to the next problem. It sucks cuz I really know how I would treat her. Great song!

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
