A Christian counselor wrote, quote,
"It's the only human choice ahead
If you can't support it
Why don't you abort it instead?"
You say you pray to the sky
Why? when you're afraid to take a stand down here
'Cause while the holy talk reads like a bad ad-lib
Silence screams you were robbing the crib
Say it ain't none of my business, huh?
A woman's got a right to choose
Now a grave-digger
Next you pull the trigger
What then?
Whatever happened to sin?

I heard the Reverend say
"Gay is probably normal in the Good Lord's sight
What's to be debated?
Jesus never stated what's right"
I'm no theology nut, but
The Reverend may be a little confused
For if the Lord don't care
And he chooses to ignore-ah
Tell it to the people
Of Sodom and Gomorrah (woah)

Call it just an alternate lifestyle, huh?
Morality lies within
Consciences are restin'
Please repeat the question again
Whatever happened to sin?

When the closets are empty
And the clinics are full
When your eyes have been blinded
By society's wool
When the streets erupt
In your own backyard
You'll be on your knees
Praying for the national guard
If you don't care now
How the problems get solved
You can shake your head later
That you never got involved
'Cause the call came ringing
From the throne of gold
But you never got the message (got the message)
'Cause your mind's on hold

A politician next door
Swore he'd set the Washington Arena on fire
Thinks he'll gladiate them
But they're gonna make him a liar
Well he's a good ole boy
Who was born and raised
In the buckle o' the Bible Belt
But remember when you step
Into your voting booth
He'll never lie
He'll just embellish the truth

Promises were made to be broken, right?
You've gotta play the game to win
When you need supporting
Tell 'em that you're born again
Whatever happened to sin?

that sounds nice on the surface. then what's the point to life? why are we here and who put us here? do you really believe a number of scientists, who, I might add, twist, embellish and censor the truth as much as anyone else you might accuse of being religious?

Yeah, you might be right there. I looked some of that stuff up a while ago for some other reason. The term 'sodomite' has come to refer to homosexuals due to tradition more than anything else, rather than the literal content of that Bible passage.

On reflection, I don't think that line is particularly clever either. Taylor makes a good point here though.

Ezekiel 16:49-50 and Jude 1:7 provide a list of Sodom and Gomorrah's sins. The people are described as being: arrogant, overfed, unconcerned, not helping the poor and needy, haughty, performing desestable acts, sexual immorality and perversion.

Included in the "detestable acts" and "sexual immorality" is homosexuality for in Genesis 19:4-5 (NIV) the Bible states: "Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house. They called to Lot, 'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.'" Clearly, homosexuality was one of the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah, but certainly not the only one. Sin over time multiplies.

Just as clearly, The Bible states that homosexuality is wrong and is one of the many results of our desire to abandon God and forget about Him and His ways. In Romans 1:26-27, homosexuality is described with these adjectives: shameful, unnatural, and indecent.

We cannot escape by claiming ignorance either. God exists and has made that fact known to all of us. Romans 1:19-20 (NIV) states, "since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."

Those that are gay are sinners just like the rest of us. They are no worse sinners than those that lie, cheat, steal, gossip or anything else. In fact, I am convinced that these "external" sins are lesser than the "internal" sins of the heart (pride and rebellion being among the very worse).

God's desire is not to see sinners "burn in hell" but to "repent" and find forgiveness of their sins through Jesus Christ. But even God's desire gives way to man's freedom of choice. If we choose to live our lives without God here and now, He will respect that choice and allow us to live separated from Him in Hell for all eternity as well. It's my choice. It's your choice. What will we choose?

It's sad how everyone jumped on this song just to insult it.

It means that Steve Taylor is as blinded by his culture as anyone.

    Truly, it's sad.

Taylor: I have news for you. The bible is just a book. There are as many misconceptions, mistakes, and myths in it as anywhere. Peace, love, and respect are found in your heart, not in words 2000 years old. And there's nothing wrong with being gay, straight, or out-there-sideways. The name of the game is to hurt as few as possible, add as much happiness to life as you can, and log out without fear.

FYI to Steve Taylor & anyone else who buys into the Sodon & Gomorrah/Gay story. Sodom & Gomorrah were destroyed because they were proud, selfish, gluttons, etc, etc. Do your own research & you'd see. There are several verses in the old testament that mention the 'sins of sodom & her sister city'

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
