"Minority" as written by and Billie Joe/wright Iii Armstrong....
I want to be the minority
I don't need your authority
Down with the moral majority
'Cause I want to be the minority

I pledge allegiance to the underworld
One nation under dog
There of which I stand alone
A face in the crowd
Unsung, against the mold
Without a doubt
Singled out
The only way I know

'Cause I want to be the minority
I don't need your authority
Down with the moral majority
'Cause I want to be the minority

Stepped out of the line
Like a sheep runs from the herd
Marching out of time
To my own beat now
The only way I know
One light, one mind
Flashing in the dark
Blinded by the silence of a thousand broken hearts
"For crying out loud" she screamed unto me
A free for all
Fuck 'em all
You're on your own side

'Cause I want to be the minority
I don't need your authority
Down with the moral majority
'Cause I want to be the minority

One light, one mind
Flashing in the dark
Blinded by the silence of a thousand broken hearts
For crying out loud she screamed unto me
A free for all
Fuck 'em all
You're on your own side

'Cause I want to be the minority
I don't need your authority
Down with the moral majority
'Cause I want to be the minority
The minority
I wanna be the minority
I wanna be the minority
I wanna be the minority

General CommentI don't see the relationship to Jimmy Eat World's The Middle, but okay...

Anyway, this is a great song... it's about doing what you wanna do, following your own heart, and not giving a damn what anyone else thinks. Best lines of the song, to me, are "One light, one mind, flashing in the dark / Blinded by the silence of a thousand broken hearts" That's just a really cool image... everyone else blinded by the evils of society, and one person awakening to individuality. Gotta love that. :-)

General Commentthis is the song that always makes me feel better, no matter what. I love green day so much. They just have their own way, and dont take shit from anybody. I admire them deeply for that kind of attitude. I just wish i could tell that to their face.

General CommentDoes anyone else notice how reminiscent the lo-fi guitar intro is to Weezer's "My Name is Jonas?"
