"If You Don't Know" as written by and Matt/walsh Hock....
our eyes have seen the glory of the rise before the fall
times get tight no end in sight we've run into these walls
sit back and have a laugh let's talk about the things we've done
and what we never have look how far we've come

this is what we say
this is what we are
this is what we are

and if you don't know
you weren't meant to
if you can't see
don't even try to understand
if you don't know
if you don't know
if you don't know
you weren't meant to

fortunate we are but fortunes come and go
buy yourself some time the years still take their toll
even when you think you got it sussed
sometimes all that you can trust
is the sun will rise tomorrow
and that's alright with us

and if you don't know
you weren't meant to
if you can't see
don't even try to understand
if you don't know
if you don't know
if you don't know
you weren't meant to

and if you don't know
you weren't meant to
if you can't see
don't even try to understand
if you don't know
if you don't know
if you don't know
you weren't meant to

General Commentthe first verse is saying that just by being yourself you can be so much cooler and better and nicer than if you were trying to be who you're not.
the chorus is saying that if you don't see through the clothes and the styles and look at the person the writer doesn't want to you to, he doesn't want to be affiliated with some asshole. its the stereotypist's loss.
the second verse is just saying to stick with what you do and don't get discouraged.
overall this song jsut stresses the importand things to know in life
