He just wanted us to call him Captain Da
He said, "You can call me Da-da", whatever that meant

Hey there, who me? Just your friendly neighborhood speed demon

I'm out to Nascar in a fast car to the last car
'Til there ain't no cars left
Enough cars go by with enough dust flyin' around to make you cry
Back down and choke half-near to death, I'm going left

Sorry about that, see like you I push the bucket
I like to burn big, like, I've gotta cut all the bullshit out of my life to live
So I tell them move over, this road ain't big enough for you

I'm flying like Knight Rider, they're trying to keep up
With their grandma outside, on the side
Maybe their steel belted radials expired, maybe they're tired
Maybe their odometer needs to be rewired or somethin'

My bad
Can you believe some of the drivers, they let out here on the road

See, whole things slows down, you're gonna find that clown
Who's gonna give you your scene with the chance to take it now

So much hostility, y'all just keep checking your rear windows
Maybe you'll catch me passing, mashed

Cut 'em, cut 'em, cut 'em, cut 'em, cut 'em, cut 'em off
Cut 'em, cut 'em, see-see-cut 'em, cut 'em off, cut, cut
Cut 'em, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut 'em, cut, cut, cut 'em
Cut 'em off in crash

    Song Meaning

To sum up this song id like to use the popular term of "live fast, die young!"

This song is about feeling the need to go faster and push harder regardless of the outcomes "out of gas and still burnin'"

This guy builds a rep as “Just a friendly neighborhood speed demon"

He goes on to explain his lifestyle in a friendly tone as if what he is doing is correct and just

"See, when the whole things slows down You're gonna find that clown who's gonna give you a scene With the chance to take it... now! "

I'm unsure about this part because the whole slowing down theme makes me think that the clown (Clean living person) is going to make a big deal about the high speed life and give him an alternative lifestyle to take.

BUT...."with the chance to take it ...now!"

There is also the negative view of this where he is given the option of highway lanes....fast...or slower. And he does not want to take the time to slow down because deep inside he is suppressing the pain he has felt from the duration of going up or down the road of the fast lane. In his head he says that it is too late and nobody can help me and I don’t want to take this help..... so "with the chance to take it...now!" it would seem that he has kept on with his life style and take it can mean many things in regards to drugs or getting his kicks in life by any means necessary.

Finally it could also be as simple as a guy who gets into a car crash. He went to fast and did not appreciate the simple things in life.

Sorry for the scatterbrained format. Let me know what you think of this please.

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
