And what do you do when
Your man kills himself and
How do I make friends now
And where is my mom
I need to show her that
She taught me
And please let me
Die an instant death

This is actually a song about a freind of theirs who over dosed. i read that after that incident they became straight, or used less drugs or something.

This is a very beautiful song. According to wikipedia this song was written about the death of one of their friends in 1991 as a result of drug overdose, as well as the death of Adam Horovitz' mother in 1986 due to alcoholism. The lyrics "what do you do when your man kills himself? / Where's my mom?" refer to each respective incident. The speaker is obviously devastated by each incident and is at a loss for what to do with himself. The process/pain caused by these two incidents make the speaker desire his own instant death, probably asap seeing as how he has a bleak outlook on life and wants to rejoin these people rather than, when he does die in the future to die instantly... blah blah blah whatever.

Yep. Ad Rock's Mom & a close friend of his. I don't believe he is contemplating suicide in this song.

The person's father has committed suicide, so they feel alone. They've probably lost their mother, but still wish they could show her their accomplishments. There is no comfort of home to return to. Death seems too ominous now, and so he hopes that when his own death comes, it comes fast.

I think this is about killing yourself to see people who have died before you in the afterlife. I like the mellowness of it, up to the crazy last minute, but maybe that is where the person kills themselves.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
