"Don't Want It All" as written by and Freddie/deacon Mercury....
To hope is admittance
Feed before beginning
Double-sided cynics
Reflected image
Don't be so selfish
Leave in me this
Follow it far
To find where you are
You haven't grown
Go on alone
Never finished his sentence
Remained in seclusion
For the next few days
The family circle noose
He had removed us
All the styles of heresy
Finally he appeared unexpectedly
Looking for company

General CommentThis is one of my favorite Nirvana songs, it's so melancholy. Little pieces like this make the entity of Nirvana that much more personal to me.

General Commentit's also been labeled on bootlegs as Seed, Sad, Spectre, and unexpected. I love this song actually. It was on an 88 demo tape that Kurt called "mellow 4-track shit" along with early versions of Polly and Sappy

General CommentSo, creepily [accidentally?] prophetic. Like someone above me said:

Never finished his sentence [both, the final sentence on his suicide note, and his stay at rehab- which to him was a prison]
Remained in seclusion [in the greenhouse]
For the next few days [the length of time before they found him]
Family is circling [searching for him frantically]
    He having moved up
    All the styles of heresy
Finally he appeared unexpectedly [the electrician]
Looking for company. [like his ghost got lonely]

Of course, the meaning he probably really intended was the way he disappeared and isolated himself from people [think "I wanna be alone" in Sliver] and after a few days, finally appeared, looking for company, because he got lonely. I forget whose house it was, but in Heavier Than Heaven, Kurt was staying at someone's house while on tour, and they couldn't find him, until they looked in the nursery and he was sitting in the darkness alone, just staring. I've always been that way, too. I look through my family photos and I'm missing in most of them, because I had always gone somewhere to be by myself. Always felt like a stranger in my own family. It irks me that I wrote a song a long time ago with the lyrics "Imprisoned in my confusion, and you'll never let me finish my sentence, I was innocent the day you gave me life" only to find Kurt had already used the same metaphor. Damn!

General CommentI definitely think this is an autobigiographical piece. Kurt seems to be talking about his own isolation. Oh, and I believe the line is "double-sided cigarettes" not cynics, which makes more sense metaphorically; cigarettes burn from both ends. Great song, Kurt never ceases to satisfy me.

General CommentThis song is so creepy because it almost describes his supposed last few days:
Never finished his sentence (Weird writing at the end of his suicide note)
Remained in seclusion, For the next few days (Was dead in the house alone for a few days)
Family is circling (everyone is looking for him)
    He having moved up
    All the styles of heresy
Finally he appeared unexpectedly (then the electrician found him)
Looking for company. (alone in that random room)

General Commentthis song has the hardest bass line i ever heard. not in teh sense that it is fast, but so prominent.
dont want it all is a song that i dont think chris novoselic or dave grohl had teh right to put on the box set.
this is too personal of a song, and should not ever have been made public.
but i do really like it.

General Commenti think this could be about kurt with his loneliness and feuds with his family (the line "The family circle knew"). I'm not sure but thats what i thought when i looked at the lyrics.

General CommentThis song is about his death.

    "Never finished his sentence
    Remained in seclusion
    For the next few days
    Family is circuling
    He having moved up
    All the styles of heresy
    Finally he appeared unexpectedly
    Looking for company "

Finally he appeared unexpectedly, looking for company.

That line is about the electrician who found his body. I can't believe no one else noticed what this song is really about.

    "Remained in seclusion
    For the next few days
    Family is circuling
    He having moved up"

He remained in the greenhouse alone for the next few days of his death. His family is looking all around for him, but he moved up and out of this world.

    "Reflected images
    Don't be so selfish
    Leaving the image
    Follow it far
    To find where you are
    You haven't grown
    Go on alone"

Reflected images - Having thoughts about his ordeal going on
Don't be so selfish - A perspective on taking his life
Leaving the image - Leaving his body behind
You haven't grown, Go on alone - He feels he hasn't progressed, go on alone means death.

BAM! Only few people know what this song was ment for.
