Oh no, I see
A spider web is tangled up with me
And I lost my head
And thought of all the stupid things I'd said

Oh no, what's this?
A spider web and I'm caught in the middle
So I turned to run
The thought of all the stupid things I've done

And I, I never meant to cause you trouble
And I, I never meant to do you wrong
And I, well if I ever caused you trouble
Oh no, I never meant to do you harm

Oh no, I see
A spider web and it's me in the middle
So I twist and turn
Here am I in my little bubble

Singing out, I never meant to cause you trouble
And I, I never meant to do you wrong
And I, well, if I ever caused you trouble
Oh, no, I never meant to do you harm

They spun a web for me
They spun a web for me
They spun a web for me

To me the most clear and poignant song to describe how I once felt...the whole point of a spiderweb is the more you struggle, the more ensnared you become.

I told a person to listen to this song once as an apology to them. I was in that sort of situation where the more I tried to fix things the more I screwed them up, until all I could do was say "I'm sorry" as sincerely as I could and walk away.

This song means a lot to me. I did some things that really hurt my wife (not physically), and pretty much broke her heart, but I was stupid and selfish and wasn't aware that I was doing that. So when she told me, I felt like utter shite. A few days later (after we started to patch things up) I was sitting in the car, kids in the back, waiting for my wife to come out, and I heard this song, and actually listened to it. I wanted to just die. So I left the kids in the car and went inside and told her again how I REALLY felt about her, and that I'd heard the song and felt like it was me singing it. And I cried pretty hard, which is unusual for me.

But the meaning of the song is very personal for me. Because if I'd know early on that my actions were hurting my wife the way they were, I'd never have kept on the way I did. I mean, she's my best friend ever, and how could I cause her that kind of trouble?

Anyway, the song rocks, and Coldplay is one of our favourite bands.

I always interpreted the lyrics in this song in relation to the lyrics from the other songs such as shiver and parachutes. Both of those songs are about being in love with someone who doesn't know and either can't or won't have those same feelings back. "Trouble" is about what happens when those feelings finally come out and how it changes the friendship for the worse. He never meant to damage their relationship. He feels so guilty about it that he wishes he go back and never have developed those feelings for her in the first place. But you can't choose who you fall in love with. It's as if his emotions spun this web that he's caught in.

I know exactly what it means. The thing is , I can't comment on it because it's so easy to see. Let's say he knows something we all need to know. We are all caught in this web and sometimes I wonder if most will ever wake up to realize it. lol...How ironic...Because most of you think you're awake lol...Anyways, this song is beautiful and speaks nothing of a human relationship but more of a spiritual relationship...( oh no I see, a spiderweb it's tangled up with me, and I lost my head). Indeed~~~ Great song........

I always found this song beautiful, but it never had any real meaning to me until my boyfriend died two years ago. The last day of his life I went over to his house and he told me he loved me. He had been in a deep state of depression for the past few months prior to his death. His parents medicated him and planned on moving away. He didnt want to, so he took his own life. I always remember lying on his bed with him listening to this song, crying and thinking about how much we meant to each other. That was the last time I ever saw him and everytime this song comes on I think about how he played it for me.

    Song Meaning

Oh no I see--- (impending understanding of the situation) A spider web it's tangled up with me ( caught in his emotions for something) And I lost my head (erred and got seriously emotional with love, afraid of being trapped) The thought of all the stupid things I said (he regrets wasting your time telling you how much he loved you)

Oh no what's this (no longer just sees it but feels the web) A spider web and I'm caught in the middle (he is in the middle because of struggling so much) So I turned to run (he thought he had better get away before he gets hurt) The thought of all the stupid things I've done (hes no longer just said things, he has done things like kissing or loving someone who didnt really want him)

And oh I never meant to cause you trouble (hes sorry for wasting your time on him) And oh and I never meant to do you wrong (he really meant to the best for you) And oh well if I ever caused you trouble (spitefully admitting that he loves you so much that if he caused you any disturbance then he is heartfully sorry for it, basically turning himself into steps that she walks on) Oh no I never meant to do you harm ( maybe he believes that hes been so much trouble to her)

So I twist and turn (he knows he is caught, and he twists and turns so he can lodge himself in her web) Here am I in my little bubble (she spun him into a bubbly cacoon on her web)

they spun a web for me (maybe he believes that they did this to him on purpose, because he keeps falling in love with spidery women?)

anyway, thats my interpretation. Coldplay has very intricate lyrics, and I thought I would share what I really believe he was trying to sing about.

This song makes me cry. Come to think of it, the whole CD makes me cry.... :( I love it though. I think maybe this is about someone who he's hurt, maybe in a relationship, but it wasnt really his fault... I dont know.

My dad started playing this in the car. So there I am, staring out of the window and it's tipping it down outside and the sky is slowly darkening. And this song suited the atmosphere perfectly.

It represents 21st century Britian PERFECTLY.

    My Interpretation

I think almost everybody can relate to this song and its lyrics, because most of us at least once have done harm to a friend or a loved one and feel sorry about it. We are entangled in a spider's net and don't know how to get out and fix things. I know what I am talking about.. For coldplay this song has a special meaning. Chris wrote it remembering how absolutely stupid he had been when in the early days of their career he had once kicked Will out of the band thinking his drumming was not good enough. He soon realized his error and the group was lucky that Will returned after Chris had apologized. In an interview he said that the song 'Trouble' had much to do with the wrong he had done to Will.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
