so we beat on
our boats against the current
so we beat on...
these waters are uncharted bravely we sail alone
riding the storm
cluthcing honor bearing pride
ocean salt that burns our wounds only this immortal ship will prevail
the sun sinks into distant waters in the west and off to the east the green light shimmers
admist the fog
it stands desolate and harbors broken dreams
which we will defend

    General CommentThe lines

    so we beat on
    our boats against the current
    so we beat on...

refer to the last lines of The Great Gatsby and the line

the sun sinks into distant waters in the west and off to the east the green light shimmers

references "the green light" which is a big part of the symbolism of the book, in short it represented Gatsbys American Dream

General CommentThe Great Gatsby is an amazing book, and this is an amazing band and song. I'll have to go tell my English teacher tomorrow about this, we just took the test on the Great Gatsby today.
