Verse:
The only thing I can respect is the way you criticize
The only thing I welcome is a lack of goodbyes
The only thing I look forward to is how you cut me down to size
And the only thing I hate is that look in your eyes

It’s the look that makes me wish that I was with you
But at the same time it tells me that I should get a clue
They say a paper cut is the worst of all the types of pain
But they’ve never watched you walk away into the wild blue terrain

Chorus:
I’m still standing here with a letter in my pocket
Telling you how much I miss your arms
It’s the only place where I’ve felt alive
But I’ve wished and I’ve wished and I’ve wished
And the third time’s not a charm

Verse:
Simple agonizing questions burn into my ears
“Didn’t you two like used to be best friends for many years?”
Yes we did but times have changed and every thing is different
Cuz missing the way you laughed is how my summer has been spent

I pray for the sun to disappear from the sky above
Cuz it’s melted away everything I’ve always dreamed of
August dreams of you and me never had a chance
I’ll sit alone and wonder as you joke about romance

Chorus

Verse:
I’m terrified of the night
Darkness captures all my sight
Maybe you will reappear under the stars
And all these nightmares that once were dreams
Can be ours

Chorus

General CommentThis is Dan Sweatt... I wrote this song last summer about a girl who I was close friends with and we started to fight over feelings we had for each other... people would always ask me if we were still friends and it hurt like hell to say that we weren't or that I got turned away
