Well, back to the back to the beat y'all
Down with the sound so sweet y'all
Just how fresh can you get y'all?
Those that are blessed say yes y'all
I'ma come inside and do my thing
I'ma take off my drawers and I'mma let myself swing
Tantalize my tummy with a booboo-snack
But now, I got to get back
Yeah, oh, this one's for you and you and you

Gonna break it down to the nitty grit
I'm gonna tell you motherfuckers why you ain't shit
'Cause suckers like you just make me strong
You be poppin that bullshit all day long
I'm gonna bust my shoes, I'm gonna bust my socks
I'm gonna spread my word from standin on this box
This drive-through world, it just ain't right
Gonna run to Joe and Tony's and get my hair cut nice
Yeah, yeah, real nice y'all

Well, come on y'all, and just come on y'all and just
Work-work-work-work it out, y'all
I'm tryin' to get up, so don't you get me down
Life, I love you, now give me a pound
Up from the fryin pan into the fire
Look within and try to admire
Yeah, what's going on y'all?

Aww yeah, gimme a little claps, soul clap
And I'ma get my shit together boy, aw yeah
Gonna, gonna, aww yeah
Gonna get it together
Everybody, gonna get it together
Can you hear me one time? Fo' yo' mind
Aww yeah
Okay, that's the end of it for the night folks
It's good to hear y'all out there, come back next week
We'll have some sheets for ya
Remember on your way home
If you're drivin, don't drink and if you drink, don't drive

Lesser known song from Check Your Head. Very different even for the Beasties. The music is more like the instrumental, funky, jazz stuff but the lyrics are hip hop & I believe Ad Rock sings the whole thing. Solid track. I would've loved to see them do this one live.

Each "why'all" should just be "y'all"

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
