"Lay Me Down" as written by and David Anthony Viner....
I will write you letters that
Explain the way I'm thinking now
I will return to you
What I have taken long before
I will return again
When it gets dark and day is done

And lay me down
In the hallowed ground
Down by your side I will stay
So lay me down

And if you want to stay with me
Then let me know before it's light
I will recoil myself
Into the black and darkest night

And lay me down
In the hallowed ground
Where my father waits I will stay
So lay me down

And lay me down
In the hallowed ground
Down by your side I will stay
So lay me down

General CommentYup. This song is about being a normal bloke, with a typically Irish sense of romance. And wanting to be buried with the one you love, as you love them that much.

General Commentit's actually about "yer absolutely average workin' bloke" according to glen. just a normal guy who works all day and has a cup of tea with his girlfriend and his biggest romantic notion in life is to be buried beside her.

General CommentAt one gig he joked:

"This song is about buying your girlfriend a grave for Christmas...

...and she doesn't really dig it."

General CommentOn the live album from 2002 Breadcrumb Trail, Glen this song is about the "importance of burning letters." He mentioned that he'd been lovers with a girl for so long then decided they would just be friends; they burnt all their passionate words.

Before I heard that, I figured it was about someone looking forward to getting buried in the family plot! XD
