This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.
They're coming 'round again.
I've returned and they've been waiting.
Their aged offererings received and returned,
passed through wet eyes.
I tremble as I feel them rolling in for, my sins, the old ghosts know.
So chilling as I feel them mourn within my soul.
As the mourning grows.
Unfold before me.
Turn back the page again.
Twenty four hours spent wishing that the day was never ending.
Shadows of glory shading my heart again.
Recall the summer when I left my heart to cool beneath the shadows I'm coming 'round again.
I've returned and no one's waiting.
I strain my eyes to see but it's so hard to read the old tags on the fallen walls

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

'Twenty four hours spent wishing that the day was never ending' is a lyric that has really stuck with me. I just think it
s great. Not sure what the song is getting at but I think it
s something to do w/ nostalgia, society and moving on.I don't know excatly what this song is about, but it is great. AFI is fucking awesome
Excellent lyrics. I really have no idea what it's about
It is Possibly about a tome that has been eroded, or weathered? Not sure, good song. Love the beginning
Whoever the hell posted this fucked up. These are the lyrics to "The Last Kiss"
Nevermind, I'm the dumbass. I just realized that my cd ripping program must have gotten the wrong name from CDDB.
Actually slpaulson Afi got it screwed up on their cd... Anyways a tome is a book (possibly one in a number of volumes). I find that this expecially a hard song to assign a meaning to also. I think that the person in this song is returning to a place in time or people he knew in time and keeps reminising what went on. Passed through wet eyes means that he didnt accept what was presented to him because he was crying or in other words a state of depression or sadness that altered his judgements. I think that this song is relating to a "book" or period out of someones life where they messed up and wanted so much to go back and change what happened because they went down the wrong path. And that path led them to loose everything he/she had or loose everything relating in their life (or their life itself). We all have times like this is our lives but we must realize that it helps us to grow and develope and obsessing over the past is not the way to deal with things. All in all this is a great afi song. Hopefully I've helped.
Unfold before me! Turn back the page again!......Shadows of glory! Shade in my heart again! Those two parts give me chills
I have NO idea what this song is about, but it is one of my favorites on the album. This one, The Last Kiss, No Poetic Device, and At A Glance are great, but I especially love No Poetic Device.
