"Gloria" as written by and Orig. Lyrics & Music:,umberto Tozzi, giancarlo Bigazzi, eng. Lyrics: Trevor Veitch....
Gloria, you're always on the run now
Running after somebody, you gotta get him somehow
I think you've got to slow down before you start to blow it
I think you're headed for a breakdown, so be careful not to show it

You really don't remember, was it something that he said?
Are the voices in your head calling, Gloria?
Gloria, don't you think you're fallin'?
If everybody wants you, why isn't anybody callin'?
You don't have to answer
Leave them hangin' on the line, oh-oh-oh, calling Gloria
Gloria (Gloria), I think they got your number (Gloria)
I think they got the alias (Gloria) that you've been living under (Gloria)
But you really don't remember, was it something that they said?
Are the voices in your head calling, Gloria?

A-ha-ha, a-ha-ha, Gloria, how's it gonna go down?
Will you meet him on the main line, or will you catch him on the rebound?
Will you marry for the money, take a lover in the afternoon?
Feel your innocence slipping away, don't believe it's comin' back soon

And you really don't remember, was it something that he said?
Are the voices in your head calling, Gloria?
Gloria, don't you think you're fallin'?
If everybody wants you, why isn't anybody callin'?
You don't have to answer
Leave them hangin' on the line, oh-oh-oh, calling Gloria
Gloria (Gloria), I think they got your number (Gloria)
I think they got the alias (Gloria) that you've been living under (Gloria)
But you really don't remember, was it something that they said?
Are the voices in your head calling, Gloria?

(Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, Gloria)
(Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, Gloria)...

General CommentI think it's more about a woman whose looks have faded but she still thinks she's beautiful and that everybody wants her but she's just deluding herself and getting older without actually having found somebody though she still thinks she will.

General CommentI never thought about that before. I thought it was more about a woman and she used to be really beautiful and get all the guys and now she's older and still trying to act the same way but it's just not working anymore.

General CommentI think this song is about a girl who's had the guys forever and always got which ever one she wanted, than she meets a guy that actually doesn't like her like that and she doesn't know what to think of it so she starts second guessing herself and is trying to play hard to get and such to get him to like her and him not liking her has made her realize she's not fooling anyone but herself

Song MeaningIt's about a woman who's desperate not to be alone—she's constantly pretending to be someone she's not just to appeal to a man, because she defines herself by whether or not she's in a relationship. Her friend is trying to tell her to slow down and chill out—stop jumping whenever guys call, stop putting on an act to please them—she isn't fooling anyone, and it just doesn't do her any good in the end.

    TranslationHi everybody!
"Will you meet him on the main line, or will you catch him on the rebound?" sounds meaningless for me (non-native speaker here!!). "main line" refers to a place like a large avenue, right? So, the singer asks something like "Will you meet him on the main line?" in opposition to catch him after being rejected by someone else ("catch him on the rebound?")? It makes no sense at all...
This strophe is driving me crazy! Can someone tell what such a statement actually means? Thank you in advance!

    TranslationHi!
I am a non-native speaker and this song is driving me crazy. I can not understand what "don't you think you're fallin'?" really means. From the context, it sounds something like "don't you think you're deceiving yourself?" or "don't you think you're humiliating yourself?"
Also, "Gloria, how's it gonna go down?" does not really make the bell ring. Would it be something like "Gloria, what now?".
Could some kind soul tell me what those statements really mean?
    Thank you in advance!!

General CommentIt's a song about your life going through the ups and downs and the moment you die you'll hear all the angels in Heaven chant Gloria, which means Glory in Spanish. You'll be in the glory of the Lord. Life's Hectic.
