"Carparts" as written by and John Roderick....
I'm leaving you all of my car parts
I didn't have the money or I would have gotten roses
You poured one more highball
But I had to go before my poor heart overflowed
Ceiling tiles and highway signs are flowing through my mind

You put all your hope in my slim chance
I didn't know I had

I'm leaving under cover of darkness
I never had a home where I didn't need to hide
I've seen every lover leave me the same way
The harder they are the harder I try
That's a lie, but I say it with a smile

You put all your hope in my slim chance
I didn't know I had
I don't even have cigarettes

Baby wasn't down with the heist
I just tried to do what I thought was right
But baby wasn't down with it
She wasn't down

I'm leaving you all of my car parts
I'll call you when I'm coming back again if I can
I mean to quit stealing as soon as I steal for the last time
At least my watch is right two times a day

You put all your hope in my slim chance
I didn't know I had
I don't even have cigarettes

    General CommentI love this song.

It's really sad, but really happy at the same time.

I think it's about someone with a lot of determination, but not a lot of money, so they leave their town/city/whatever to try to start a new life, even though they know they've not got much of a chance.

General CommentYep. It's about being in love and being broke. The opening line might be my favourite first line of any song ever. Ben Gibbard plays drums on this one, fact fans.

General CommentThese are the actual lyrics from the website:

I’m leaving you all of my car parts
I didn’t have the money or I would have gotten roses
    You poured one more highball
But I had to go before my poor heart overflowed
Ceiling tiles and highway signs are flowing through my mind

You put all your hope in my slim chance
    I didn’t know I had

I’m leaving under cover of darkness
I never had a home where I didn’t need to hide
I’ve seen every lover leave me the same way
The harder they are the harder I try
That’s a lie, but I say it with a smile

You put all your hope in my slim chance
    I didn’t know I had
    I don’t even have cigarettes

Baby wasn’t down with the heist
I just tried to do what I thought was right
But baby wasn’t down with it
    She wasn’t down

I’m leaving you all of my car parts
I’ll call you when I’m coming back again if I can
I mean to quit stealing as soon as I steal for the last time
At least my watch is right two times a day

You put all your hope in my slim chance
    I didn’t know I had
    I don’t even have cigarettes

And here is a link to a free download of the mp3, also off The Long Winters website, so it's legit.

The one thing I wanna know is what the heck "At least my watch is right two times a day"?

    General Commentrokbom:

The watch is right two times a day because it's broken.

    Just following the broke theme.

General CommentI wish I knew how to change these lyrics, but it's "you POURED one more highball" not "pulled." What the hell? "Pulled" doesn't even make any sense... oh well.

I saw that someone posted the correct lyrics, but how do you change them on the site?

General CommentOP has to change the lyrics, unfortunately they haven't. There needs to be some way to fix them without being OP.
