"Bittersweet" as written by Sharon J. Den Adel, Martinus J. E. Martijn Spierenburg and Robert Westerholt....
If I tell you
Will you listen, will you stay?
Will you be here forever?
Never go away?

Never thought things would change
Hold me tight
Please don't say again
That you have to go

A bitter thought I had it all
But I just let it go
Oh, this silence it's so violent
Since you're gone

All my thoughts are with you forever
Until the day we'll be back together
I will be waiting for you

If I had told you
You would have listened
You had stayed
You would be here forever

Never went away
It would never have been the same
All our time would have been in vain
'Cause you had to go

The sweetest thought I had it all
'Cause I did let you go
All our moments keep me warm
When you're gone

All my thoughts are with you forever
Until the day we'll be back together
I will be waiting for you

General CommentTo me this song is about someone who just got dumped but she still loves him. In the beginning she is asking him if he would listen to her if she explained to him the situation. She is saying that it was her fault since she had kept something from the him and eventually he found out and dumped her. For her, his silence has become very violent since he had left her. She is also always thinking about him and she is and will be waiting for him until he comes back to her again.

General CommentFor me, the song's about a person who loved someone who died, but she never told him that she loved him, and she blames her self.

General CommentThis reminds me of Bitter Virgin in a way.

The girl has a secert, and she can't bring herself to tell the boy, in fear he won't be able to accept her and will leave her, but in the end he does leave, and if she had told him he would have listened and he would've stayed with her.

[How it reminds of Bitter Virgin: Hinako was raped by her step father and impregnanted twice, so she doesn't trust men anymore, but after meeting Daisuke, she begins trusting him, and finds herself in love with him. But she fears telling him of her past in fear that he wouldn't be able to love her, someone who has given birth [[Though in truth, he already knew]]. For her protection, Daisuke stops hanging out with her, so Kazuki won't try and kill her. And if she told him, things probably would be easier for them, instead of him trying to hide the fact he already knows and blah blah blah]

I love this song to death.
    It's real sad.

General CommentI just thought I'd note,
the last night my boyfriend (now husband) was with me before I got deployed to Iraq, he slept on the couch at my mom's house, and I went back into my bedroom and sang this song and cried myself to sleep.
That's what it means to me.

General CommentThis song, to me, is about someone who has lost their lover, or someone very important
    And has never told them that they loved them;
"If I had told you, you would have listened, you would have stayed."
And they think that if they would have said so, it would have changed their life.
"It would never have been the same."
But I think that it seems that the person had to go anyway
"All our time would have been in vain, 'cause you had to go."
And I think that he is planning on coming back to her
Because she seems to be waiting pretty faithfully.

Could apply to someone leaving for war I suppose.
Or for college, or something like that.
    It could have many meanings.

    General CommentIf I tell you
    Will you listen
    Will you stay
    Will you be here forever
    Never go away

She begs him not to go, but she keeps the biggest secret to herself, because she knows he is leaving for a good cause.

    Never thought things will change
    Hold me tight
    Please don't say again
    That you have to go

She was so sure that he wouldn't, but he decides to go, so she gives him a last goodbye, making him promise never to leave again when he comes back.

    A bitter thought
    I had it all
But I just let it go
    Hold your silence
    It's so violent
    Since you're gone

while he's gone, she thinks of her life before, and see's how she had almost everything she ever wanted. her parents, who never thought that he was a good match anyway, beg her to just leave him and run away while he isn't there anymore. She keeps telling herself that she needs to stay faithful, even though it's getting worse.

All my thoughts are with you forever
Until the day we'll be back together
I will be waiting for you

She spends her time thinking about him, everyday until he comes home, where she will be waiting there to welcome him home.

    If I had told you
    You would have listened
    You'd had stayed
    You would be here forever
    Never went away

She thinks that if she would have told him, he would have stayed.

It would never have been the same
    All our time
    Would have been in vain
    Cause you had to go

But then she wouldn't love him as much now because the distance strengthens their relationship. And how he never would have loved you as much back.

    The sweetest thought
    I had it all
Cause I did let you go
    All our moments
    Keep me warm
    When you're gone

Now she sees hoe lucky she it to have seen how much she loves him and knows that when another trial comes up they will be able to do it together. All the moments that they will share will give her support if he leaves again.

All my thoughts are with you forever
Until the day we'll be back together
I will be waiting for you

Now she's sure he will be the only man she will ever love and will wait faithfully until he returns.
