"Love A Diamond" as written by Jeffrey Russo, Emerson Hart and Dan Lavery....
Love a man
Who loves a diamond
And holds it softly
In the palm of his hand
Keeps it warm
And holds it directly
Under the pages
Of his heart's command

Love is overrated
Love was hard to find
Love was underrated
I would find

Be it true
Or be it underhanded
I won't harbor
And she won't crawl
Be it real
Or be it underminded
She won't harbor
And I won't stall

Love is overrated
Love was hard to find
Love was overrated
In my time

Love a man
Who loves a diamond
And holds it softly
In the palm of his hand
Keeps it warm
And holds it directly
Under the pages
Of his heart's command

General CommentAw, why hasn't anyone commented on this?

This is my favourite Tonic song I think. Makes my heart swell. I'm presuming the 'diamond' is the girl. So girls, love a man that loves you back.

General CommentThe diamond is a woman, yes...the singer is saying to choose someone to love that has the ability to value something precious and treat it well.

Also, "love was overrated in my time" he is saying love is a feeling and is fleeting and it takes more than love to make a relationship work long term - it takes honesty, selflessness, etc

So, yeah overall he's saying to women, "find a man who can value you, and has integrity in his life overall, and not just feelings towards you at that moment"
