"Professional Widow" as written by and Tori Amos....
Slag pit, stag shit
Honey bring it close to my lips
Yes
Don't blow those brains yet
We gotta be big boy
We gotta be big
Starfucker just like my daddy
Starfucker just like my daddy
Selling his baby
Just like mydaddy
Gonna strike a deal make him feel like a Congressman
Running in a family
It's run in a family

Rest your shoulders peaches and cream
Everywhere a Judas as far as you can see
Beautiful angel
Calling we got every re-run of Muhammed Ali

Prism perfect
Honey bring it close to your lips
Yes
What is termed a landslide of principle
Proportion boy it's gotta be big
I said it better be big boy
Starfucker just like mydaddy, yes
Starfucker just like mydaddy, yes
Selling his baby
Just like yourdaddy
Selling his baby
Gonna strike a deal make him feel
Like a Congressman
It's running in a family
It's run in a family
Hey, it's running in a family, hey baby
It's run in a family

Mother Mary
China white
Brown may be sweeter
May be sweeter
Mother Mary
China white
Brown may be sweeter
She will supply
She will supply
She will supply
She will supply
Supply, supply

Give me peace, love
Peace, love
Give me peace, love
And a hard cock

General Comment"[Professional] Widow is my hunger for the energy I felt some of the men in my life possessed: the ability to be king. I wasn't content just being a muse. I was the creative force. I was in relationships with different men where if they could honour that, they couldn't honour the woman, and if they could honour the woman, they couldn't honor the creative force..."

"As I got to know Widow, I began to really adore her candor. She was so cut off from so many other parts of being, but here she is, deliciously convincing him to kill himself so she doesn't have to leave fingerprints on his body. She'll make sure he showers before this all begins. She's ready to extract what she wants from him, the current won't be what she wants until he's dead. Whatever his addiction is, she's convincing him that mother mary will supply it."

"'Give me peace, love and a hard cock': because you can't have one without the other. For her to really say, 'are you gay?/are you blue?' that same person has had to say 'give me peace, love, and a hard cock,' because if I hear Peace and Love one more time! That is so full of shit!"

General CommentI think it's quite sarcastic, she's viewing men in a single-minded way and in that maybe accusing men of viewing women in a single-minded way by doing that.

She's never flatly denied it was about Courtney. I think it may have links to her, but it's not simply about her. It's about lots of stuff. Tori's songs are never simple & that's why she's so amazing.

General Comment"Don't blow those brains yet, we gotta be big boy" Could it be Tori accusing Courtney of seeing the suicide as a cash oppurtunity?

General CommentI find the Courtney Love interpretation fascinating. Further evidence supporting this include the "Mother Mary, china white... Brown may be sweeter, may be sweeter..." section, she's obviously referring to the Heroin that Courtney and Kurt did together - just as Yoko was responsible for dosing John's heroin so to was Courtney - basically they handled the supply of drugs fed to the men (partly as a means of control I imagine)

She will supply, she will supply, she will supply, she will supply, supply, supply." section

General CommentI honestly believe this song IS about Courtney Love. Every word and every meaning. When Tori sings starfucker shes referring to Courtney Love. Love wanted to do whatever it took to get famous. Sleep with rock stars etc. She tried to sleep with Billy Corgan only for his fame. She met Kurt and knew she hit the big times.

The selling his baby part is referring to Courtney Love's father. He has made a career out of writing books about Courtney and Kurt. Neither of them get along. Love's father was once the music manager of the grateful dead. Her father is obsessed with fame too.

Totally agree with the drug reference at the end. Heroin was their drug although Courtney preferred coke and Kurt preferred Heroin to soothe is stomach issues.

The Peace and Love at the end really puts the cherry on the ice cream. Courtney got the Love from peace and love to create her stage name. She said so herself. She wanted to identify with the hippy culture she grew up in.

General CommentI remember reading a magazine article that was talking about Courtnye Love, and the writer just flatly assumed that this song was about her. It could be, but it's about a bunch of other things, too. It has that whole steriotypical South flavor like "Little Amsterdam," and it's kind of about a woman who lives in a time and place where she can't have power, so she does everything through her husband. And she's evil, too.
    I love that last line.

General CommentThis song is an in-your-face piece supposedly accusing Courtney Love of the murder of Kurt Cobain ..... Even though it has been widely claimed that Tori Amos wrote this song about Courtney Love and her doomed husband, Tori has stated in numerous interviews that this is definitely not true.
