Ease
Had to start telling me
Won't bring me to my knees
Scraped up and bruised from your fickelness
I plead
Just let me feel some ease from creatures of your greed
Just let me feel some ease for me
And I'm so glad I met you.
It makes me wanna go away
Till you think its over
I touch
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Where do we go from here?
You know I'm not the only one
Where do we go from here?
You know I'm not the only son
Where do we go from here?
Stop dreaming 'bout the shiney gun
Where do we go from here?
No I'm not the only one
These
Broken dreams are screams to me
The difference I can't see
The way you look and talk to me
You're cursing me I freeze
The combination of loss, control, loss of soul
I weaze
Just give some ease to me
And I'm so glad I met you.
It makes me wanna go away
Till you think its over
I touch
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Where do we go from here?
You know I'm not the guilty one
Where do we go from here?
No I'm not the only son
Where do we go from here?
Stop dreaming 'bout the shiney gun
Where do we go from here?
No I'm not the only one
I touch
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Where do we go from here?
You know I'm not the only one
Where do we go from here?
You know I'm not the only son
Where do we go from here?
Stop dreaming 'bout the shiney gun
Where do we go from here?
No I'm not the only one
Where do we go from here?
Where do we go from here?
Where do we go from here?
Where do we go from here?
Where do we go?

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
Mountain Song

Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Plastic Bag

Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
"Where Do We Go From Here" is a plaintive cry, reflecting young people's confusion at what paths to take and what decisions to make for the future. From the the "half-truths" of the media, to the fickleness of societal trends, the narrator is not so glad "he met you", meaning society and the world in general. The things in the world that make him "scraped and bruised", and the unhealthy relationships that make him "wheeze", make him desperate for some sort of escape. It all "makes him want to go away", but as the chorus exclaims, "stop dreaming 'bout the shiny gun"; suicide is not the answer.
from my perspective, this is about someone confused about where they're at in life and has no clue what to do next, and knows that "u know im not the only one" in the same postition, but still asking the same question, "where do we go from here." describes me i dont know about u
It's about his shitty father abandoning him.
its about generation x and y and all the changes they were going through as a while over the past couple of years, about coming out 9/11, about the influence of violence and trying to stay away from it all (stop dreaming about your shiney gun)
just about being fucking confused as to what to do after everything is crumbling apart
Sounds like another failed romance. She cheats on him and is very good at hiding it, however he eventually finds out. It makes him want to go away. (suggestive of suicide when in conjunction with the "shiny gun") Ultimately, they still love each other. He then wonders and asks.. "Where do we go from here?"
One of my fav Filter songs.
Atleast Rich Patrick writes about different themes than other artists. I think the lyrics are saying a number of things, but in general it's about teenage life.
I found this song not that long ago, somehow I was looking up some info about some 20th century conflicts/wars and I randomly found this song and put it on, and it really resonated because I realized a sense of being lost about what to do with the legacy people my age and younger have inherited from previous generations. The saying goes "respect your elders," but a lot of our elders were racist, sexist, out of touch with reality, and dominated by a government which loved every bit of that and reinforced many biased ideals. So since we often can't look to "our elders" for answers about how to deal with life today, where DO we go for answers? Where CAN we go? Is there anything we can do to fix previous generations' mistakes that they've left us with? Did they really give a crap about us at all? It's incredibly frustrating to try to figure out what to do once you realize authoritative figures are imperfect, confused humans just like you, me, or anyone else.
First off, sorry about all the ?'s in there, but I just couldnt figure out what he was singing. If anyone can help, pleae go through and correct it. And there are some lyrics in there I'm not really sure about, so if you know the right ones, go through and correct them.
besides that...real good song :)
I think this song is about a couple who use to love each other very much but now they really hate each other.Example: a marriage on the edge of divorce. Each blames the other for what went wrong in the relationship but in reality it's both of their faults. And they're questioning where do they go from here. They're not sure if they want to end the relationship or not.
