Readin' my paper in Ray's Cafe
The ol' guy next to me is loud as day.
Rambled and rambled while eatin' his pie,
He dropped his wallet, now it's mine uh-huh.

Sorry old man but that's just the way that it is,
Don't bother none.
Won't help at all to worry 'bout it.

Picked up the wallet and slipped outside,
Walked around and walked around and walked around town.
I found my nerve and a good place to hide,
Only to find no cash inside, uh-huh!

Oh well, I guess that's just the way that it is,
Don't bother none.
Won't help at all to worry 'bout it.

I got thirsty so I went to a bar,
Met a li'l darlin' with the face of a star.
In the mornin', woke up to find
She stole my car along with my heart, yeah yeah.

Oh well, I guess that's just the way that it is,
Don't bother none.
Won't help at all to worry 'bout it.

Wish she'd give me back my heart, uh-huh.

Oh well, I guess that's just the way that it is,
Don't bother none.
Won't help at all to worry 'bout it.

General CommentI always find it funny that it's a girl singing about having a one-night-stand with another girl. or "lil' darlin'" as it were

General CommentI think Mai Yamane sounds a lot like Melissa Etheridge, but better. I love the bluesy, slow sound of this song!

General CommentI think this song just expresses the easy-going life of the Bebop crew.

Also, Yoko Kanno wrote, arranged, and composed the song, but Mai Yamane sang it. (I just wanna set the record straight and give correct credit)

General CommentIt's all about letting whatever life does to you roll off your back. i especially love where the car is stolen, and all the singer is concerned with is getting back her heart... god Mai Yamane has a beautiful voice
