"Save Me A Place" as written by and Lindsey Buckingham....
Written by lindsey buckingham

Don't know why I have to work
Don't know why I can't play
Turn me off turn me out
But don't turn me away
Save me a place
I'll come running if you love me today

Don't know why I have to go
Don't know why I can't stay
Guess I want to be alone
And I guess I need to be amazed
Save me a place
I'll come running if you love me today
I'll come running if you love me today.

General Commentwhat an incredible song... lindsey was always good at taking really cliche songforms and lyric structures and wringing something unexpected and beautiful out of them. aside from the chorus harmonies which obviously make the song, i've always loved those last two lines of the second verse, especially in comparison to how obvious and straightforward the rest of the verse lyrics are. i think those two lines in particular are about finding spiritual moments in solitude. lindsey was spending all of his time at the studio during this period and really isolating himself personally and professionally, it sounds like he's acknowledging that his place is there, that is where he "needs" to be, but that he hopes they save him a place back in the real world.
