"Stand By Me" as written by Ben King, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller....
When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh now now stand by me
Stand by me, stand by me

If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
And the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
Stand by me, stand by me, stand by me, yeah

Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me, oh now now stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me

Darlin', darlin', stand by me, stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me

General CommentOne of my favourite songs of all. An example of a work of genius. Pennywise, John Lennon, and other people all do equally excellent covers of it. It's surprising that more people haven't made comments on this famous song. It was perfect for the movie Stand By Me. One of the best movies ever.

My InterpretationA song that's simply about wanting someone to stand by you through anything is just so beautiful. Every time the song comes on and I hear the beginning beat...it just has this way of taking me somewhere else. And if you've seen the movie, it becomes even more powerful.
Definitely one of my favorite songs ever.

General CommentOMG Ben E King's version is the oldie and the goodie.

You don't get much better than that heartfelt old stuff from when things were simpler, sweeter, and honest
