"Black Flowers" as written by and Dowd....
Black Flowers have lost their way
They`ve lost their way again
Cursed for their will to dream
Raped by mankind again

Like the auction blocks of castrated dreams
Kills the heart of love turned into disease
And each day I pray
Please take me away
Please take me away

Black flowers have lost their way (X4)
Why does this hatred linger on
Voices in my mind remind me everyday
And the passing time has healed no wounds
Deep inside my heart the pain it lingers still
And the love
Away the colors
Oh the love
Fade and blur
Has rotted away
Outside my window sill
And I can`t bear this feeling anymore

No I won`t give into hatred
And I`ll never stop dreaming
And I`ll love
Oh I`ll love
Till my very last breath
Is taken away

"You have to put on your imagination
Heart glasses to see the rest !"

General CommentWhy no comments on this amazing record? Possibly my favourite song of all time, I've read that it's about the band getting down about racism in the music industry. They are the black flowers and because they don't play traditional "black music" whatever that means they have been hindered by executives, companies and radio stations who don't know where to place them. However, i think it's actually a much deeper song. For me it's actually about how the world in general just breaks you down, particularly sensitive or artistic people. You can get so wrapped up in beautiful art and music but the reality of everyday existence drags all that out of you "cursed for their will to dream, raped by mankind again". There you have it. The final verse - "no i won't give in to hatred..." might out of context seem a little cheesy or clichéd, but in this song, I find it tremendously uplifting. A triumphant note of defiant hope.
    I love this song.

One last thing - when i listen to this song, a scene plays out in my head really clearly -something that has never happened with any other song - I won't say what it is, but I wonder if anyone else has a visual association with this music.

General CommentI have to wonder if "God's not with you, Holy Roller" is a shot at former guitarist Kendall Jones. He left the band and joined a cult at around the time the band started recording this album.

General CommentOK, I know no one probably cares, but I've figured out what's said at the end, the "imagination heart glasses bit."

"Bet ya bottom dollar that the end will come, judgement passed on every one (repeat)... and I betcha."
