white laced promises keep suspicion from crawling, their blatant disillusion teases my mind.
its raining shamelessly but its not helping the time slow the decision reels.
why is it so hard its the pain that stops me, the empathy burns down that side.
how could i ask you to understand. how could i ask you to understand. how odd you stand.
so it just keeps chewing and will continue to do so until the rains stops.

As with many pg99 songs, this is hard to decipher. Maybe, he wants to breakup with his girlfriend (or in a more macabre approach, kill her? for being disloyal, he suspects) but he doesn't want to hurt her. He sees her and it is too hard; but time goes by quickly when trying to make hard decisions. "so it just keeps chewing and will continue to do so until the rains stops" the way they scream that and make it drag on is amazing. I always have to scream along. RIP PG.99

reading this song specifically reminds me of something i recently went through. my interpretation: you know how when you ask someone not to do anything, and you want to believe them when they promise, but your gut just nags, and you find out you were right? that's this song. he for sees something, and is told it is fine. his gut makes the day drag. the uncertainty is what is killing him. the rain stopping is him getting that answer either way, the uncertainty ending. that's just my interpretation.

Once the rain is gone he'll know what to do. I think he'll gather up the strenght... The bitch deserved it.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
