"Hello" as written by Gary Glitter, Mike Leander and Noel Thomas Gallagher....
I don't feel as if I know you

You take up all my time

The days are long and the nights will throw you away

'cause the sun don't shine

Nobody ever mentions the weather

Can make or break your day

Nobody ever seems to remember

That life is a game we play

We live in the shadows and we had the chance and threw it away

And it's never gonna be the same

'cause the years are falling by like the rain

And it's never gonna be the same

Till the life I knew comes to my house and says

Hello

There ain't no sense in feeling lonely

I've got no faith in you

But I've got a feeling you still owe me

So wipe the shit from your shoes

Nobody ever mentions whoever

Can make or break your day

Nobody ever seems to remember

That life is a game we play

We live in the shadows and we had the chance and threw it away

And it's never gonna be the same

'cause the years are falling by like the rain

And it's never gonna be the same

Till the life I knew comes to my house and says

Hello

Hello<--- 3 times

[It's good to be back, good to be back]

Hello

Hello

Hello

(guitar solo)

General Commentthe lines "we had the chance and threw it away And it's never gonna be the same " make me think of a relationship that ended,or failed attempts at ones.

"And it's never gonna be the same
'Til the life I knew comes to my house and says
    Hello
    Hello!
    Hello!
    Hello!
    Hello!
It's good to be back "

makes me think that the person is done with the moping around b/c of the rejection and just wants to be happy again, hence the whole "the life i knew",like their previous life before the shit hit the fan. they realize life is way to short to sit around and dwell and you just gotta move on and it's worth it, b/c "it's good to be back"

i just love this song. it makes me just want to say FUCK YOU to anyone who put me down. just the ending is awesome "hello....it's good to be back"

    General CommentHe's talking to himself:

"I dont feel as if I know you, you'll take up all my time"
    - He's seeing himself, and he's bored and not impressed.

"The days are long and the night will throw you away
    Coz the sun don't shine"
-Nights are long and dreary, cause no sun in the day time to cheer you up

"Nobody ever mentions the weather can make or break your day
Nobody ever seems to remember life is a game we play "
    - You are not in control of everything, life is unpredictable and can change how you see things. If life is unpredictable and meaningless, then just play along.

"We live in the shadows and we had the chance and threw it away"
    - We're not living up to our potential, we had the chance but blew it.

"And it's never gonna be the same
Cos the years are following by like the rain
And it's never gonna be the same
'Til the life I knew comes to my house and says
    Hello "

    - Thinking about the years passing and the time he 'had it', but eventually the old life will come back and say 'hello'

"There ain't no sense in feeling lonely
They got no faith in you
But I've got a feeling you still owe me
So wipe the shit from your shoes"

-forget your 'friends', but you got an obligation to your self, so clean your shoes and get your act together, and embrace your old vitality and spirit when it comes knocking on your door and says HELLO!

General CommentI totally agree with Seimiko. And here I am, reviewing. (yay!) Although this song seems sort of pop-driven and meaningless it holds some of the BEST LYRICS ever.

We live in the shadows and we had the chance and threw it away
And it's never gonna be the same
Cos the years are following by like the rain
And it's never gonna be the same

Whenever i think about how life is moving to fast, and how you never have enough time and that years just go by before you even have time to look around and take in what you see (wow, that was a looooong sentence!) I think of this song. And that's exactly what Noel Gallaghar had in mind when he was writing this song.

General CommentHeard somewhere Noel changed Gary Glitter's version as to not be associated with him?
Seems stupid? Can anyone confirm this?

Quality that like, agree with "a contradiction", makes me want to say a big fuck off to me ex-girl friend.
Its as if youve been really let down/pissed off with your ex and they know theyve pissed you off and upset you, well now your back and your gonna raise a little hell. "Hello
    Hello
Say its good to be back
    good to be back!"

General Comment'There aint no sense in feeling lonely, you got no faith in you' is one of my favourite oasis lines. This song certainly leaves you determined to get on with your life and stop dwelling on the past..with a renewed belief and confidence like coming back stronger and better. AWESOME

General CommentNoel Gallagher: This opening track was premiered at Glastonbury and borrows the riff from Gary Glitter's 'It's Good To Be Back'. It's one of the three songs on the album that's not about anything. I spend as much time on the lyrics as I do on the music. I'd like our kid to spend more time on them but he spends no time at all. Obviously, everyone is going on about the Gary Glitter thing, but I just had that in for a laugh.

General Commenti always thought this song was about a man who lost himself.

'Til the life I knew comes to my house and says
    Hello!

he lost the old him, and he finally returns.
