Beating the fall
I can't help but desire of falling down this time
Deep in this hole of my making
I can't escape
Falling all this time

We come to this place
Falling through time
Living a hollow life
Always we're taking
Waiting for signs
Hollow life

Life x8

Fearing to fall
And still the ground below me calls
Falling down this time
Ripping apart all these things I have tried to stop
Falling all this time

We come to this place
Falling through time
Living a hollow life
Always we're taking
Waiting for signs
Hollow life

Is there ever any wonder
Why we look to the sky
Search in vain
Asking why?
All alone
Where is God?
Looking down
We don't know

We fall in space
We can't look down
Death may come
Peace I have found
What to say
Am I alive?
Am I asleep?
Or have I died?

(Haunting me)

We fall in space
We can't look down
Death may come
Peace I have found
What to say
Am I alive?
Am I asleep?
We fall down

(Something takes a part of me)

We come to this place
Falling through time
Living a hollow life
Always we're taking
Waiting for signs
Hollow life

Is there ever any wonder
Why we look to the sky
Search in vain
Asking why?
All alone
Where is God?
Looking down
We don't know
x2

We fall in space
We can't look down
Death may come
Peace I have found

General CommentWe continue to hurt ourselves like this, and we cant get out. Are we are subject to the whims of the universe? We sin, we take, we wait for signs of something better- some judgement of our actions, divine consequence or intervention.

But we have hollow lives, we do not think for ourselves, and rely on judgment of the universe to dictate our future actions.

Im afraid to die, but still I desire it. I want to know what happens.
Am I forsaking myself by living like this, or have I been forsaken by god all along?

We are so uncertian of the universe, but does anyone ever think about why we are always asking a god these things? Why we are pleading for a god to exist?

where is god? is there a god? we dont know.

We are falling, forsaken and we cant see whats comming. This next second could be the end of our existance, but we live in denial of this possiblity.
What to say- any last words? Am I alive? Am I asleep? Or have I died?

The truth/my sins/possible death is haunting me. Im so afraid im losing myself to the fear- it curropts me.

    We come to this place
    Falling through time
    Living a hollow life
    Always we're taking
    Waiting for signs
    Hollow life

    Is there ever any wonder
Why we look to the sky
    Search in vain
    Asking why?
    All alone
    Where is God?
    Looking down
    We don't know

Please god, judge me. please. where are you? answer me. god please.
I want to be judged, i want to be given meaning, so I will die.

General CommentBesides that, I think Jon is touching on the ridiculous concepts of things such as fate and punishment for sins. So often when something bad happens to someone, you will see them looking up to the sky and ask "why me?," as if they were being punished for something they did wrong. It's really quite illogical. We don't even know if "God" exists, and Jon even touches on that. Too many people have convinced themselves that they KNOW there is a "God" because their believe is so ridiculously strong. Beliefs are too dangerous. Nonetheless, I think this song is a little Nietzsche-esque.

General CommentI think this song is about falling into a deep depression and thinking about suicide and questioning why god isn't helping him in his desperate time of need. It's really sad because he's giving up the will to live.

My InterpretationI first loved this song just for its sound--an interesting balance of hard and soft. But I loved it again for its lyrics. I think this song is about those who search for meaning in their lives and cannot find it, thus their lives are "hollow". It gets easy to give up, as the speaker seems to feel at the beginning. It's no wonder then, as the lyrics state, why people turn to religion to create meaning for themselves ("Is there ever any wonder why we look to the sky? Search in vain, asking 'why?' All alone, where is God? Looking down... We don’t know"). It may even be in the point of view of someone suicidal. It can be difficult to stay positive when the world is so greedy ("Always we're taking...") and life is so fragile and temporary ("Ripping apart all these things that I've tried to stop falling all this time"), that it may be better to just give up ("Death may come, peace I have found").

General CommentI think this song is about how people always wait for signs from god even though none ever come, and how putting all of your faith in religion and trying not to sin makes your life hollow

General CommentI know this song is a slower one off the album, but I really like this song. I really like this song: the music, the way Jon sings, and the words.
