What is it that we´re struggling for?
I don´t quite see it anymore
Life kicks us in the teeth
Yet something makes us crawl back for more

Blood and tears upon the altars of our lives we shed
Blood and tears until the sweet release we share in death
Hours like days, weeks feel like years
Decades of tears
Yet somehow

We´ll lose the things we´re fighted for
Each rise is followed by a fall
We´ll lose the ones we love, the ones we most adore
Yet go on, we go on

Blood and tears upon the altars of our lives we shed
Blood and tears until the sweet release we share in death
Hours like days, weeks feel like years
Decades of tears
Yet somehow everything seems so worthwhile
For a moment, for a moment

What is it that we´re waiting for?
Looking forward to, preparing for?
Like kicks us in the teeth
Yet something makes us crawl back for more

Blood and tears upon the altars of our lives we shed
Blood and tears until the sweet release we share in death
Hours like days, weeks feel like years
Decades of tears
Yet somehow
Blood and tears upon the altars of our lives we shed
Blood and tears until the sweet release we share in death
Hours like days, weeks feel like years
Decades of tears
Yet somehow everything seems so worthwhile
For a moment everything seems so worthwhile
For a moment, for a moment

I think it's very simply about the troubles of life and how we get knocked down and get back up again. We go through tragedy and sorrow, and either you let it keep you down, or you drive on and learn from it - and keep going.

The last lines, "Everything seems so worthwhile, for a moment." are about the NOW, from a spiritual standpoint - our lives and how we measure things - the past, present, future, etc. - are a string of moments.
When it's a "worthwhile" moment in time - it always passes... until we come upon the next one, and between the good times, we have the traumas.

Death is imminent. The cycle of trauma and joy ends , on this plane, when one's body dies. I think the lyrics speak for themself.

no metaphors or hidden meanings here, just damn good vocals, amazing instruments, and some pretty poetic lines.

Doesn't leave a whole lot of room for interpretation but I guess admiration will suffice!

Its got nothing to do with getting back up from a tragedy.

Its all about the hardships of life, questioning why we go through so much pain and whats it all for.

'What is it that we're struggling for I don't quite see it anymore Life kicks us in the teeth Yet something makes us crawl Back for more'

'We lose the things we're fighting for We lose the ones we love the ones we most adore Yet go on We go on'

The song is asking what makes us crawl back for more.

The complete and accurate lyrics are:

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
