6th and green is a warm place in november
when the air is cold and the leaves blow on the ground
and i don't think i can even remember
why it was that i came to this town
chorus:
because i just want to be lonely tonight
just me and my maker in this cold moonlight

this is me on the eve of an ending
to what i've known as constant for a year
and i'm so scared of the pain that i'll be sending
sometimes i just want to run away in fear

(chorus)

haven't heard your voice in two weeks now
and anticipation's been wearing me thin
and i just can't help but wonderin' baby if somehow
we could tear these pages out and begin again

because i just want to be lonely tonight
just me and my maker in this cold moonlight
yeah i just want to be lonely tonight
with no one around to see the sight
of me lying here

this is the hardest thing i've ever done before (x4)
and i don't want to be lonely (x2)
but i don't want to be lonely tonight
because my maker's holding me

    General CommentIs this song religious?
That's what I got from "just me and my maker in this cold moonlight".

General CommentI do know that Matt is an alum of the University of Illinois (Urbana/Champaign)...(go illini!). He was a part of a christian youth group organization called "young life." 6th and Green are two intersecting streets on campus, green being the exciting place to be (bars, restaurants, etc). I'm going to guess that this is about his love life...maybe and end to a relationship....perhaps he lived on 6th street and Green street...and he was just finding comfort in God.

General Commentit really meant a lot to me....around october of my first year at U of I my relationship of 3 years ended. I questioned why i ever left home in the first place and wanted to blame school. I definitely felt the same and turned to religion for help and comfort....wish i had heard this song a long time ago....
