In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
Bright light city gonna set my soul
It's gonna set my soul on fire
Got a whole lot of money that's ready to burn
So get those stakes up high
There's a thousand pretty women waiting out there
They're all waiting, the devil may care
And I'm just the devil with love to spare, so
Viva Las Vegas
Viva Las Vegas
Viva Las Vegas
How I wish that there were more
Than the twenty-four hours in the day
Even if I ran out of speed
Boy, I wouldn't sleep a minute of the way
Oh, that blackjack and poker and the roulette wheel
A fortune might be lost on every deal
All you need is sonar and nerves of steel, so
Viva Las Vegas
Viva Las Vegas
Viva Las Vegas
Viva Las Vegas
Where the neon signs flash your name
The one-arm bandits cash in
All those hopes down the drain
Viva Las Vegas
Turning day into nighttime
Turning night into daytime
If you see it once
You'll never be the same again
Gotta keep on running
Gonna have me some fun
If it costs me my very last dime
If I wind up broke
Then I'll always remember that
I had a swingin' time
Ooh, I'm gonna give it everything I've got
Lady Luck's with me, the dice stay hot
Gotta coke up my nose to dry away the snot, so
Viva Las Vegas
Viva Las Vegas
Viva Las Vegas
Viva, viva Las Vegas, whee!
It's gonna set my soul on fire
Got a whole lot of money that's ready to burn
So get those stakes up high
There's a thousand pretty women waiting out there
They're all waiting, the devil may care
And I'm just the devil with love to spare, so

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing

Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
I live in Las Vegas, so naturally I love this cover. Ah, fuck it, I love all Dead Kennedy songs!
