"Horse" as written by Edward Joel Kowalczyk, Chad David Taylor, Patrick Dahlheimer and Chad Alan Gracey....
all the things that they make you say
and all of the love that you hide away
I'll pick you up and it will be all right
I'll pick you up and it will be tonight

she rode a horse into my head
she rode a horse into my head
she won't discipline the children
and now they're running wild on the beach
and I don't care
oh, I don't care
no I don't care hey, hey, hey

it's the middle of the night and you're here
playing dominoes and drinking beer
I tried to think of something deep to say
but my well is dripping dry today, hey
hey, hey, hey

she rode a horse into my head
she rode a horse into my head
she won't discipline the children
and now they're running wild on the beach
and I don't care
oh, I don't care
no I don't care hey, hey, hey

General Commentwell I like the one quote' my well is dipping dry today. I think it would ruin live if they went rock-country, but this is actually my favorite song off Throwing Copper. I don't even think this song fits into the category of rock-country, sure it has those influences but I also think that live created their own kind of genre here for a song, I love it.

General CommentWhy can't it just be a love song? They have great work that is deep, but you're all just pulling comments out of your asses right now. It's a beautiful song just shut up and enjoy it. :) I get this website is suppose to have people share their ideas, but you've got nothing for this one.

General CommentLive should have done more country-influenced songs like this. I mean, this song is good and so different from so much of their other stuff - what if Live went country-rock?

My InterpretationI feel it is about how sometimes spirituality is not something you have to struggle for.

So much of Ed's lyrics are very poignant and powerful and take some significant energy to share his messages of spirit and love.

This is a realization about how simple is can be. Every moment, even just relaxing with loved ones and friends, and letting all the worry go... being at peace with how the world is?

That easy act is just as important as making a defiant stand against fear.

My OpinionWhen I first found this song oddly at the end of their cd, It was just nice, and catchy.. I'd sing along thinking, I have no idea what the h##l hes talking about.. years later (now) it pops into my head. I come here.

My picture finally fell in place years ago while driving my car. she rode a horse into my head..OK. He's on the beach in a beach chair, I picture his wife there. The kids are running around. One of his daughters has a little play horse (i pictured a real small plastic thing) She's fake running it in the air like kids do. She bumps it into his head a little bit to get his attention, he smiles but doesn't really look at her, but he knows at that moment he's happy. Later he thinks back at that moment when she did that and how content he was.. . then back to his fond memories of his wife, the fun of hanging out with her at the beginning. now they have kids, settled down, He thinks back at that moment at the beach, and writes that line. He later adds the earlier times he hung out with his wife, perhaps an uneasy time he didnt know what to say, and young excitement of first love stuff. Nice song

My Interpretation...and all the love that you hide away - He's hooked on heroin, and hides it from everyone

I'll pick you up and it will be all right
I'll pick you up and it will be tonight - I'll score some heroin and shoot up to stave off the withdrawal

She rode a horse into my head - His wife/girlfriend got him hooked on heroin

    She won't discipline the children
And now they're running wild on the beach
And I don't care, oh, I don't care - The children are running around unsupervised, and no one cares because they're too high

I tried to think of something deep to say
But my well is dripping dry today - He's out of heroin, which some say enhances their creative provess.
