"Sick Of Myself" as written by and Matthew / Sweet....
You don't know how you move me
deconstruct me and consume me.
I'm all used up, I'm out of luck I am star struck
By something in your eyes
that is keeping my hope alive.

But I'm sick of myself when I look at you
something is beautiful and true.
World that's ugly and a lie
it's hard to even want to try.
I'm beginning to think
maybe you don't know.

I'll take a leave, the room to breathe
The choice to leave it
I'll throw away a chance at greatness just to make this
dream come into play
I don't know if I'll find a way

'Cause I'm sick of myself when I look at you
something is beautiful and true.
World that's ugly and a lie
it's hard to even want to try.
I'm beginning to think
maybe you don't know.

I'm beginning to think
maybe you don't know.

Something in your eyes
that is keeping my hope alive.

But I'm sick of myself when I look at you
something is beautiful and true.
World that's ugly and a lie
it's hard to even want to try.
I'm beginning to think
maybe you don't know.

I'm beginning to think
maybe you don't know.

General CommentI love this song. Who here hasn't had a crush on somebody so bad that the person literally made you sick of yourself? It's so universal I'm surprised it wasn't written decades before...

General CommentMan, 10 years ago this song would've probably had about 3,000 comments. This is another lost treasure of the 90's

General CommentThis is the catchiest song about self-loathing you'll ever hear. It's almost shocking yet this song is PURE REDEMPTION. This kind of music validates life.

Song ComparisonI don't know if it's on purpose or not, but if you compare the chords to the verses of Bowie's "Queen Bitch" to the verses of "Sick of Myself," it seems like Matthew Sweet took the chords to "Queen Bitch" and moved them down half a step. It's basically the same chords and strum pattern. Anyway, I do have to agree with the sentiment that Sweet is one of the most underrated artists of the '90s.
