can you afford to bear your crosses?
can you bear to allow your voices?
feel your love in my tangled mess of me,
i know you you only love the best of me,
it's the part of me people rarely see,
i know you're running from reality,
trying to save me, but it's so worthless,
don't drag down, you don't want this,
sweetened sorrow gives way to great pain,
if your love fades only my hate remains,
Alyson, i know you don't love me, only a dream,
but the world'd love you, too, if they'd seen what i've seen,

and another day i go on to face reality,
need someone to sweeten suffering for me,
another day take my place in the world,
and i'd give my all for someone's love for me,

can you afford to bear your pressure?
can you afford to go another session?
i know you never had any love for me,
i realised that so long ago now, it seems,
that all the time i was just in your schemes,
to save yourself from absolution,
f**k you, f**k your pain, i don't give a f**k,
how do i know? maybe it's what you want,
you are nothing but another attention seeker,
from all your pain my soul is none the weaker,
Mother, if it was any more it would be crushed,
i always knew how it felt not to be loved,
don't tell me you weren't loved,
because everyone loved you,
it's ME they ignored! ME! ME! ME!
what's so wrong with me!

and another day i go on to face reality,
need someone to sweeten suffering for me,
another day take my place in the world,
and i'd give my all for someone's love for me,

so can you really afford to never
feel you'll feel this way forever?
pervert, f**kin' wife-beater f**kin' b*stard,
f**k you, now i know how your lies lasted,
don't you dare f**kin' use me, my love is mine,
i hope you regret what you did, i hope you cry,
i hope you hurt inside for the things you did,
you're sorry? sorry? YOU THINK I GIVE A SH*T?
in what f**kin' way do you think that excuses you?
could you even forgive someone who uses you?
f**k you, dad, i've got nothing but pain for you now,
f**k you, dad, i've got nothing but hate for you now,
don't you blame it on your life,
you can't run from me now, i'll MAKE you listen,
you sick f**k! there's no way i'd hurt Alyson!
sick perverted woman-beating motherf**king f**k!
F**K your apologies, F**K your opinions, and F**K YOU!
sit down, shut the f**k up, stay f**kin' dead,
i don't want you inside of my head!
YOU'RE the reason i'm this way!
it's YOUR fault! it's ALL your fault!

and another day i go on to face reality,
need someone to sweeten suffering for me,
another day take my place in the world,
and i'd give my all for someone's love for me,
and another day i go on to face reality,
need someone to sweeten suffering for me,
another day take my place in the world,
and i'd give my all for someone's love for me,
and another day i go on to face reality,
need someone to sweeten suffering for me,
another day take my place in the world,
and i'd give my all for someone's love for me,
i'd give my all just for one chance with you, Alyson!

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
