I've been thinking about you more than I should, eh
Thinking somehow I misunderstood
I've been drinking about you more than I should
They said we were too young
Going back to twenty-one

'Cause you said that you cannot leave me
You said you, won't
We carve our names in the city
By the red payphone

You said that you would not leave me
But now you're, gone
Now you're, gone
Now I

I keep it locked away all days to come
The beauty of your face I come undone
Because it feels like staring at the sun
Feels like, feels like

Feels like, feels like
Staring at the sun
Feels like, feels like
Staring at the sun

Staring at the sun

Say you're happy and now and I'm under your spell, eh
Gotta know what you hide, you know me too well
And then you kiss me goodnight, tell me farewell
And you're standing all alone, in a minute you are gone

'Cause you said that you cannot leave me
You said you, won't
We carve our names in the city
By the red payphone

You said that you would not leave me
But now you're, gone
Now you're, gone
Now I

I keep it locked away all days to come
The beauty of your face I come undone
Because it feels like staring at the sun
Feels like, feels like

Feels like, feels like
Staring at the sun
Feels like, feels like
Staring at the sun

Staring at the sun

Staring at the sun
I've been wasting time
Way down, down that line
Every waking hour
Way down, down that line

I keep it locked away all days to come
The beauty of your face I come undone
Because it feels like staring at the sun
Feels like, feels like staring at the sun

Staring at the sun
Feels like, feels like staring at the sun

    My Interpretation

For me, this song is about a relationship. It could be any relationship, but I believe it’s a lover. I’ve experienced this song, it is so relevant to my life, that I got the piano part at the end tattooed on my arm. This is my favourite song.

    “I'm a mess I guess It's what I've asked for, It's what I've needed”

He acknowledges that he’s a mess, quite simply… he deserved it for whatever reason, and sometimes we need to feel pain if we are going to change or move on.

“Well, you know me better than that Or at least you did then something happened But once again something's happened”

He’s speaking to the person he loves, saying that she knows him… or used to, but something happened to them, and she doesn’t know him anymore. Maybe It’s implying that she didn’t think he’d change.

“The confidence you held in us Was the rope we almost hung ourselves with At times I wonder if we really took the steps to break right through it”

Now he’s saying that she had so much confidence in their relationship, and put so much into it emotionally, maybe it became obsessive, or they relied too much upon each other for their stability and happiness, that it ended up destroying their relationship because of how unhealthy it was, and he questions whether they did the right thing to move away from that.

“I know that there were better days But to see the light and to feel the rays Life was always back and forth and we were idling or making useless progress"

Their relationship was really good for a while, they were happy. They were in love. Things weren’t all bad, but it was an emotional rollercoaster, and that never changed. It was either highs or lows.

“Waiting for the rain to stop Destination: beautiful Seems that I'm still waiting for the sun Someday will come back to us If you're willing let it go Why won't you just let this be your sun?”

He’s waiting for things to get better between them, he wants to be happy, He wants something beautiful. To me, sun is a metaphor for hope and happiness. He’s waiting to be happy, things aren’t good. Someday he will be happy again. If she’s willing, they can let it go, why can’t she just be happy with things?

“It seems like yesterday we had the world our way But some say we're headed for destruction”

Things were good, but now people don’t think it’s going to last.

“I'll ask you "what in the world should we do?" The light is green, our break is through Are we not trying or we're trying too hard?”

They’re questioning at this point whether it’s worth it to stay in the relationship at all, maybe they went on a break, and they’re trying again. He’s wondering if they’re not trying to fix things, or if they’re trying too hard and it’s not working, or they’re not going about it right.

“You know I never want to miss I hold on tight and reminisce But it's bittersweet to me “ He doesn’t want to miss her, he holds on tight to the memories and the good times, but even though things were good the memories are bittersweet because things aren’t the same.

“When time stands still as it's trapped inside the letterbox you gave back to me But I'm the one who keeps on reading But I'm the one who wants to let it go I'm the first to speak and you're the last to know Another scene that we're creating I need to know if we're still making useless progress”

It’s over, she’s moving on, but he hasn’t. He wants to let it go, maybe he’s bitter. “I’m the first to speak and you’re the last to know” Maybe this means that whenever they had a spat, even though he would address it, she never understood. Just another argument, they’re still making useless progress, and even though it’s over, she hasn’t disappeared from his life or his heart. Then the chorus again, twice. I believe he’s talking to himself and us now, telling us to be hopeful, telling us to be happy with the way things are, even through all of our hardships.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
