"Time After Time (Annelise)" as written by and Buck....
Ask the girl of the hour by the water tower's watch
If your friends took a fall, are you obligated to follow

[Chorus]
Time after, time after time

When the bull's on his hooves, when you gather friends by the tower
If you try to refuse, will they judge your worth by the hour?

[Chorus]

Time after, time after

If your tired and you're tried you can find me in my room
You can stay if you want and the third time you can't lose

[Chorus: x2]

Ask the girl of the hour, by the water tower's watch
We can fight if you want but who will turn out the light

[Chorus: x3]

Time after, time after

General CommentWay back I somehow got the impression that this song is about Anne Frank (her full name was Annelies). The water tower was at the concentration camp. Absolutely no idea if it's about her or not but it makes this a very powerful song for me.

    Time After Time (Annelise)
From what I've heard, Time After Time is about a night Mike Mills had with these two girls (one of which was alleged to be [Barrie], now Pete's wife) where they got stoned, climbed up a water tower in Athens, partied, took some of their clothes off, and ended up getting arrested. Whether that's true or not, I honestly don't know... [omega305] * While that's the prevalent rumor (about Mike, Barrie Greene -- later [Mrs.] Buck -- and another woman) the incident reportedly occurred later in 1984, after Time After Time was recorded. It is probably the same watertower, though, as it's in the neighborhood where they were living (Barber St). [Lin Wright]

General Commentsee my rockville post and confirm if or not the two songs are about the same girl...i swear i remember reading (somewhere in the two years since i last posted here) that they were...but i'm probably wrong

...anyway, i want to name my daughter Annelise someday...or maybe Ann Elise is better for baby-naming purposes

General Commentnot too sure about the lyrics, but the music is really gorgeous. Prolly the most underrated song on Reckoning.

General CommentMy Daughter is an Ann Elise. I did it that way for 2 reasons. First, on the album it is spelled with a capital A for Ann and a capital E for Elise, which to me indicated first and middle names. Secondly, it was much easier for my little girl to spell Ann than Annelise in kindergarten and first grade, but at home she is Annelise.

General CommentI think the water tower was on Baxter Hill, across from the UGA high-rise dorms. Torn down some time ago for the Red and Black building.
