24 Cylinders

Give me Laugh everyone feels
Give me Pain if time should end
Give me High this dream that's
Give me nothing full of contradictions will...
Give me Laugh an insincere smile
Give me Pain for every lie told
Give me High love has lost
Give me nothing a place to go...

your unreachable love my unreachable love
even now, look at it...
your unreachable voice and my unreachable voice
even now, look at it... but.....

Give me Laugh with every time we've embraced
Give me Pain can I love you?
Give me High I who am
Give me nothing full of contradictions...

time will end time will change me, you, now, will be branded into the flow of time
time will stop at the end of time we'll kiss and then sleep in this love without warmth

An end begins a trivial matter.
It's a time to burn everything.
If I could forget you without hesitation...

Serious injury laughs at me.
The time is changing, the passage of time
burns me, you, now.

Solitude laughs as it likes.
You laugh as you look down.
The time is over, the time will stop, at the end of
the time, sleeping with a kiss to unheated death.

your unreachable love my unreachable love
even now, look at it...
your unreachable voice and my unreachable voice
even now, look at it...
the dream withers and returns to the sand will the dream bloom again someday
inside of me?
I can't recall the dream that left me will your voice reach
to my very core? but.....

time will end time will change me, you, now, will be branded into the flow of time
time will stop at the end of time we'll kiss and then sleep in this love without warmth

Give Me nothing if time should end

Why havent anyone commented this song? this is problably one of the BEST dir en grey songs ever!!! but still Kyo is not changing the subject in his songs, almost all songs are about the same thing...(not all, but too many of em)

I was about to ask the same thing when I came upon it!

I dunno... I can't think of a lot that have the exact same subjects, though the subjects I find are extremely powerful... love and time. In fact, not a single other song on this album have this same subject...

So basically, it's about time and a love lost. While he does talk about these things a lot, it's never in the same way, in my opinion.

I agree, though. This used to be my absolute favorite song when I first got this CD, my first CD by Dir en grey!

Not only are the lyrics partly about the flow of time, it's one of those ones that gives you a static feeling. That you're experiencing time flowing and many of the things we think matter really don't. (But that's just me.)

And by the way... what's so surprising? At least Dir have comments on SOME of their songs... looks to Pierrot's lyrics

"Give me laugh." Give me something to be happy about. Anything. Make me happy. "Give me pain." Give me something to cry about so I don't take the good times for granted. "Give me high." Make me FEEL. "Give me..." Everything. "Nothing." Don't give me anything. "If time should end." If I can't have you, I don't want anything.

...Was that really saying what the song means to me? XD I guess that's just my thoughts on those parts of the song and what's being implied. This is a very powerful Dir en grey song. It makes me cry. I think, like a lot of Kyo's lyrics, this is about love. But this one views it in a different way than most of his songs, I think. Almost like he doesn't WANT love if it has to end. He doesn't want it because he doesn't want to have to lose it, so he'd rather not love than love and lose. Goes against the old saying, doesn't it? But it's a good way to keep yourself from getting hurt, and I think Kyo's conveying that time goes by, everything ends, and if you're not willing to be hurt, then don't ask for love in the first place.

This is the cleverest song Kyo's every written. the repition of 'give me' shows how everyone wants and craves things, it's human nature to want things. In 'give me laugh', give me pain' he's asking for joy and pain-the two most basic human experiances. 'give me high' is asking for more then the basic emotions, he's asking for more, then 'give me nothing' is taking back that request-he'd rather not know what it was to feel. the lines afterwards are just as important. 'everyone feels if time should end this dream full of contradictions will...' the sentence ends unfinished, but it's open to interpritation, it's something everyone fears-that when they die their dreams will result to nothing. 'with every time we've embraced, can I love you? I who am full of contridictions...' He's been doubting his ability to love because of his own flaws, he feels he's too flawed to give love honestly. 'time will end' to 'love without warmth' shows how as time goes on the relationship degrades. 'An end begins a trivial matter' to 'the time, sleeping with a kiss to unheated death.' decribes how the relationship collapses and he blames himself for not being able to love 'the dream withers and returns to the sand will the dream bloom again someday inside of me?' He's asking if his ability to love will return and the 'dream' will mean something when time ends. 'I can't recall the dream that left me will your voice reach to my very core? but.....

time will end time will change me, you, now, will be branded into the flow of time time will stop at the end of time we'll kiss and then sleep in this love without warmth

Give Me nothing if time should end '

He's subjected himself to lonliness and will prefer to have nothing then lose everything at the end of time

God, again and again Diru impress me or make me totally speechless with their songs. Not even just the music, which is ALWAYS solid and amazing, but Kyo's lyrics.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
