"Escape (the Piña Colada Song)" as written by and Rupert Holmes....
I was tired of my lady, we´d been together too long
Like a worn-out recording, of a favorite song
So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed
And in the personals column, there was this letter I read

"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
If you´re not into yoga, if you have half a brain
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape
I´m the love that you´ve looked for, write to me, and escape"

I didn´t think about my lady, I know that sounds kind of mean
But me and my old lady, had fallen into the same old dull routine
So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad
And though I´m nobody´s poet, I thought it wasn´t half bad

"Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
I´m not much into health food, I am into champagne
I´ve got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape
At a bar called O'Malley's, where we´ll plan our escape"

So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face
It was my own lovely lady, and she said, "Oh, it´s you"
And we laughed for a moment, and I said, "I never knew"

"That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape
You´re the love that I´ve looked for, come with me, and escape"

"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
If you´re not into yoga, if you have half a brain
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape
I'm the love that you've looked for, come with me, and escape"

General CommentI can't believe how many people think this song is "sweet".

It's about two horrible people who decide to cheat on each other because they're "bored". In the end they get exactly what they deserve -- each other's lying, cheating asses. How long till they get bored again?

General CommentNot a great song, but romantically funny. It pokes fun at people's weaknesses.

General CommentThe Song is about a man who got tired of his Wife and then read an ad in the newspaper from a lady was looking for a man. Then, The guy took out a personal ad and responded to the lady who wrote the ad and they met up at a bar called O'Malleys. The lady who wrote the add went to the bar to meet the man. The man saw the lady who turned out to be his Wife. In the end, even though both of them had the intention to cheat, they rekindled the love they felt for one another and found out the love they where looking for was right in front of them the whole time. This song is actually a true story about the singer(Rupert Holmes) and his wife(Elizabeth Wood Dreifuss). They have been together ever since.

General CommentA man and his wife are sick of each other, they both go behind each others backs, and look for love in a personal ad column, when they find the one they both like, it turns out that they are likely their spouses... great song about how you love the one you love!!

General CommentI think it's about forgiveness. They were both cheating on each other, and when they both found out they were cheating on each other, they could relate to each other, and just kind of laughed about it.

General Commentmy pal, Gooch, says this song is about the importance of communication in a relationship.

i say it's about a dickhead couple who put out want-ads to cheat on each other and got caught.

General Commentwhoa!! this song isn't that great...the lyrics are mostly terrible, but it's melodic and has a catchy hook...it's still fun to listen to every now and then...no, it isn't a good song, but you can't call it the worse when songs like "We Built This City On Rock And Roll" exist, songs with NO redeeming qualities
