In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
Don't know what you've really got
It's hard to stay and not pretend
You can't make sense in what you thought
It seems I can't comprehend
I'm happy to be, only all that you see
And I'm not one to learn to be the same
I don't want to hear you bitch no more
I was better off a year before
No matter how I try I can't ignore
Every time I think my brain gets sore
When I'm with you
What's so hard about goodbyes?
I'm sorry, I'm just not as keen
On planning out our perfect lives
When I'm only nineteen
I'm happy to be only all that you see
And I'm not one to learn to be the same
I don't want to try and just be friends
Nothing's change my mind again
If ever there were thoughts I had, they're dead
I can't even think inside my head
When I'm with you
I'm on my way, can't you see that's the truth?
So long, can't stay, won't you see that's the truth?
I'm on my way, can't you see that's the truth?
So long, can't stay, won't you see that's
See that's the, see that's the
Last that I could take
Because it's getting really hard to fake
It's not like it's my problem that you're late
But can't you just spare the lies I hate?
When I'm with you
It's hard to stay and not pretend
You can't make sense in what you thought
It seems I can't comprehend
I'm happy to be, only all that you see
And I'm not one to learn to be the same
I don't want to hear you bitch no more
I was better off a year before
No matter how I try I can't ignore
Every time I think my brain gets sore
When I'm with you

I'm sorry, I'm just not as keen

I'm happy to be only all that you see
And I'm not one to learn to be the same
I don't want to try and just be friends
Nothing's change my mind again

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
i only listened to this song to start with coz my best friends name is in the title but it turned out to be a really good song 2. And the lines 'I'm happy to be only all that you see/and i'm not one to learn to be the same' are me in every way
you best friends name is Crazy Amanda Bunkface? poor girl. lol. j/k
anyways, to me, its basically, a relationship, where the chick gets annoying, and the guy needs to get away from her, cause shes crazy and obsessive, and planning their future, so she makes up lies so he'll stay with her.. sounds like my ex boyfriend.. he was insane.. worst 12 days of my life. lol..
anyways, i could be wrong about what this songs really about, but thats what it seems like to me.
"It's not like it's my problem that you're late"
...uhh? Someone explain this line.
obviously she was late for something and she lied about why she was late.
Does anyone happen to know what bunkface means?
ok this is like the GREATEST song on all killer no filler... right up there with summer and heart attack. But newho im thinkin bunkface is a nick name or sumthing like that...no real importance in the song...but um those ARE the lyrics...really they are. the "it's not liek it's my problem that you're late" line is just like one of the many in the song stressing that his gf is bein too intense. b/c in other parts its like i dont wanna hear u bitch no more (great to scream with this song if ur really pissed off) annnd the part where he's like i'm sorry im just not at keen on planning out our perfect lives when im only nineteen. yeah his gf is just bein too clingy u know? yes so thats what i think the song is about so there ya go!

i luv this song...the lead singer deryck wrote it about one of his ex-girlfriends (probably amanda durr) and it talks about how hes better off without her; and btw bunkface means fuckface. haha deryck must of really not liked her....--yea i used to be obsessed with sum; but now i've cooled down, theyre an awesome band though =P
Wut the fuck...these are the correct lyrics...from the Warped Tour 2002 Compilation version.
Fucking kick ass song.
"It's not like it's my problem that you're late"- I could be wrong, but she could be comlaining that he's never given her an orgasm.
