"Charlie No. 3" as written by and Timothy/gertler Freedman....
He'll need some time to get over this
But a moment is all he can spare
His buddies out there in the city lights
And he is trying to care

See him offering himself to the world
Staring down from the fifty-sixth floor
I'll be happy just to catch him again
We go out we don't always come back

The night pressing in on his weary mind
There's a half-eaten moon in the sky
Nothing is calling him back to bed
And no-one is saying goodbye

See him offering himself to the world
Staring down from the fifty-sixth floor
Yeah I'll be happy just to catch him again
We go out because we go back
And back and back

See him offering himself to the world
Staring down

General CommentYou'll see the lead up to this in the other 'Charlie' songs as well.. 'Charlie' was rather hooked on gambling, and yes - he did commit suicide. I saw Tim Freedman in an intimate little bar as he played and explained each song - the Charlie ones seem so much sadder when you know it's all based on Tim's memories of his friend's slow decline.

General Commentits not about a suicide attempt, its about one of the original band members, Stevie Plunder and the night he killed himself. He through himself off the biggest waterfall in New South Wales one night.

General CommentYou know, even if someone commits suicide it’s still an attempt (obviously a successful one).
