Yeah, this one right here goes out to all the baby's mamas, mamas
Mamas, mamas, baby mamas, mamas
Yeah, go like this

I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (ooh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologized a trillion times
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (ooh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologized a trillion times

My baby's drama mama, don't like me
She be doing things like having them boys come from her neighborhood
To the studio trying to fight me
She need to get a, piece of the American pie and take her bite out
That's my house, I'll disconnect the cable and turn the lights out
And let her know her grandchild is a baby, and not a paycheck
Private school, daycare, shit, medical bills I pay that
I love your mom and everything, but see, I ain't the one who laid down
She wanna rib you up to start a custody war, my lawyers stay down
Shit, you never got a chance to hear my side of the story, we was divided
She had fish fries and cookouts for my child's birthday I ain't invited
Despite it, I show her the utmost respect when I fall through
All you, do is defend that lady when I call you, yeah

I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (ooh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologized a trillion times
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (ooh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologized a trillion times

Me and yo' daughter, got a special thing going on
(We got a special kind of thing going on)
You say it's puppy love
We say it's full grown
Hope that we feel this, feel this way forever
You can plan a pretty picnic
But you can't predict the weather, Ms. Jackson

Ten times out of nine, now if I'm lyin' fine
The quickest muzzle throw it on my mouth and I'll decline
King meets queen, then the puppy love thing, together dream
'Bout that crib with the Goodyear swing
On the oak tree, I hope we feel like this forever
Forever, forever, ever, forever, ever?
Forever never seems that long until you're grown
And notice that the day by day ruler can't be too wrong
Ms. Jackson my intentions were good I wish I could
Become a magician to abracadabra all the sadder
Thoughts of me, thoughts of she, thoughts of he
Asking what happened to the feeling that her and me
Had, I pray so much about it need some knee pads
It happened for a reason one can't be mad
So know this, know that everything's cool
And, yes, I will be present on the first day of school, and graduation

I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (ooh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologized a trillion times
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (ooh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry (uh, uh, yeah)
I apologized a trillion times

"Look at the way he treats me"
Shit, look at the way you treat me
You see your little nosy-ass home girls
Done got your ass sent up the creek, G
Without a paddle, you left to straddle
And ride this thing on out (out)
Now you and your girl ain't speaking no more
'Cause my dick all in her mouth (mouth)
Know what I'm talking about? Jealousy, infidelity, envy
Cheating to beating, envy and to the G they be the same thing
But who you placing the blame on? You keep on singing the same song
Let bygones be bygones, you can go on and get the hell on
You and your mama

I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (ooh), I am for real (yo mama, bitch)
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologized a trillion times
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (ooh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologized a trillion times

I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (ooh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologized a trillion times
I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (ooh), I am for real
Never meant to make your daughter cry
I apologized a trillion times

This song is very good. I have always thought of Outkast as a weel-rounded, very original rap duo, from their selection of beats & rhythms, lyrical content, even clothing. I particularly like the opening reverse synth & drums, and the piano sample that adds a hint of sadness. Nonetheless, the lyrics are straight foward for the most part, although the 2 MCs seem to be dealing with their own "baby mama dramas". Where Big Boi seems to be frustrated in a struggle to carry on a neutral relationship with his baby mama for the sake of the child having 2 parents, Andre is apologetic for the mutual loss of love/interest that once existed between him and the mother of his child, yet pledges to keep an active role as a father.

As far as all those who gave a negative comment about this song, feel free to compare this song to whatever cover the Vines may have done of it, but don't ignorantly discard it as trash because you fail to embrace hip-hop music. Someone posted this song had"way too much hip-hop influence" yet "Hey Ya was OK because it had a rock influence". Don't disrespect entire genres of music simply because you have an affinity for a certain type or fail to recognize talent in others.

Yeah the vines version is terrible and completely bastardizes the song.

In an interview they said Ms. Jackson was just a name used to represent all of the mother's out there and it's basically an apology/tribute for all the shit they're put through.

I was watching an Outkast interview and this song was brought up and they said it was having a child and he's trying to talk to her mother. Heres what I got from it..

I'm sorry Ms. Jackson [OOOH], I am for real -> he'd not just trying to use her daughter and stuff.

Never meant to make your daughter cry the daughers obviously sad about it.

    I apologize a trillion times and he's apologizing (x2)

[Big Boi] My baby's drama mama, don't like me her mother is being over dramatic and isn't pleased with him breaking up with her daughter

She be doin things like havin them boys come from her neighborhood to the studio to try and fight me. the mothers so mad that she'd sending over boys to fight the guy ((pritty obvious))

She need to get a, piece of the american pie and take her bite out not understanding this part.

That's my house, I'll disconnect the cable and turn the lights out And let her know her grandchild is a baby, and not a paycheck he's proving to her mother that he's not using her daughter for money so he cuts off electricity sorces.

Private school, daycare, shit medical bills I PAY THAT He'd willing to pay for the majority of the bills for there family

I love your mom and everything, but see I ain't the one who laid down She wanna rib you up to start a custody war, my lawyers stay down dont get this.

Hope that we feel this.. feel this way forever he wants them to be together forever.

You can plan a pretty picnic but you can't predict the weather, Ms. Jackson he thinks that she doesn't have a clue about what they feel about eachother and how there love will end.

Ten times out of nine, now if I'm lyin; fine The quickest muzzle throw it on my mouth and I'll decline he wont be controlled by her mother.

King meets queen, then the puppy love thing, together dream bout that crib with the Goodyear swing they've found eachother, then they gain puppy love then a serious realtionship and they dream about a nice house and stuff.

on the oak tree, I hope we feel like this forever Forever, forever, ever, forever, ever? he's asking her if she hops it will last forever like he does.

Ms. Jackson my intentions were good I wish I could become a magician to abacadabra all the sadder thoughts of me, thoughts of she, thoughts of he he wants to change everything to make it right.

Askin what happened to the feelin that her and me Had, I pray so much about it need some knee, pads It happened for a reason one can't be, mad he is praying that they can still love eachother.

So know this, know that everythang's cool And yes I will be present on the first day of school, and graduation he is promising he will be there for everything.

    [Chorus]

[Big Boi] Uh, uh, yeah "Look at the way he treats me" Shit, look at the way you treat me he's trying to make a point that he is only treating her mother badly because of the way she treats him.

You see your little nosy-ass homegirls done got your ass sent up the creek G Without a paddle, you left to straddle and ride this thing on out

Now you and your girl ain't speakin no more cause my dick all in her mouth the mother and daughter arnt talking to eachother because the daughter refuses to stop being with the guy.

So the song's all about Andre. It's his relationship, his turmoil, his kid, right? His parts are all about wondering if it was possible to feel like this forever and his wish to abracadabra all of the ugliness away...heartfelt stuff. And then what does Big Boi do? Come in and get in some faces about all the bullshit that's being pulled, call a spade a spade, and let it be known that dicks will be put into the mouths that they need to be put into. That's a great ying and yang of what it's like being heartbroken versus watching everything yr friends have to go thru when it's happening to them.

The actual meaning is that Dre had a child with singer Erykah Badu out of wedlock. This song is a message to Badu's mother, whose actual name is Kolleen Wright. Ms. Jackson is a name that they made up.

This is simply one of the strongest hip hop/rap songs ever, such a great table turning on a common problem (accidental pregnancy), and looking at it through the point of view of a guy who really wants to help raise the kid, or at least know him/her.

Catchy as hell besides, of course. It's always nice when deep meaning and awesome beats combine.

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
