Yeh, it goes away
All of this and more of nothing in my life
No color clay
Individuality not safe

As of now I bet you got me wrong
So unsure you run from something strong

I can't let go
Threadbare tapestry unwinding slow
Feel a tortured brain
Show your belly like you want me to

As of now I bet you got me wrong
So unsure you run from something strong

I haven't felt like this in so long
Wrong, in a sense too far gone from love
That don't last forever
Something's gotta turn out right

You sugar taste
Sweetness doesn't often touch my face
Stay if you please
You may not be here when I leave

As of now I bet you got me wrong
So unsure we reach for something strong

I haven't felt like this in so long
Wrong, in a sense too far gone from love
Strong, I haven't felt like this in so long
Wrong, in a sense too far gone from love
That don't last forever
Something's gotta turn out right

I remember something that Lionel Ritchie said about songwriting. He said that love songs would never go out of style. It seems to me there are three categories of love songs: I love you, I hate you, and I am sorry. They all deal with love and this one is in the second category. It's a great tune and it haunts. That's why I like it.

In the liner notes of 1999's Music Bank box set collection, guitarist Jerry Cantrell said of the song:

"That's about a girl I was dating in between one of the times I broke up with my true love. A lot of times you'll tell someone how you don't want to be in a relationship and why, and what kind of person you are, and they hear all that but think that they can change you. That's what the song's about, getting me wrong and the different ways that men and women see each other."

I also see the song as a conversation between a man who doesn't want to commit, and a woman who has strong feelings for him and thinks that he'll change for her when he sees how strong she feels about a potential relationship.

    For example:

Man: As of now I bet you got me wrong. (I don't want to commit) So unsure we reach for something strong.

Woman: I haven't felt like this in so long...

Man: Wrong, in a sense too far gone from love. (I don't love you, it was all about lust)

You can also apply that to the verses as well.

Jerry wrote this song and I read a long time ago how he had a long time girlfriend he he loved back home. However he could never be faithful to her due to his "needs" and touring...and what not. I think this song is about how his girlfriend had enough with him and his behavior. She breaks up with him because she cant take it anymore. He feels bad and he thinks that she "got him wrong". Who knows? Maybe he didnt do anything with another woman and she got him wrong or maybe he did. However, he does feel heartbroken because he truly loves this girl but he cant help himself. Thats just my interpretion... we will never know the true story. Awesome song, love AIC. Like if you cant tell already with my s/n lol.

Man, it makes total sense to me now. No wonder I absolutely can't stop playing this song on repeat right now. I am especially drawn to the lines:

"You, sugar taste Sweetness doesn't often touch my face Stay, if you please You may not be here when I leave"

... I'm leaving my first love (I'm 21). We've been together for 2 years. I'm leaving him so that I won't hurt him in the future, as I don't know what I want in life right now and I can't commit to anything. He is the only innocence and good that I know right now (and may EVER know), but we can't become further attached b/c of the potential hurt that's involved. It's SO hard to leave him, and the only way we can go about it (we agree) is to not be in each other's lives anymore. I feel like I'm mourning a dead person, it hurts SO much. I know one day we'll get over it though, and that it's probably for the best. I think this might be (if not exactly) close to what this song is about now that I think of it.

I can really relate to this song because to me it seems like the song is all about miscommunication in a realtionship and failue to understand one another. The person says strong, because they are ready to move on and "wrong in a sense to far gone from love" because they feel removed from the relationship.

I would guess it is about a woman that lost their love for him and he stil wants her back, but she is gone.

"Thank you. We've got a friend of ours helping us out today, Mr. Scott Olsen on guitar." ---- Jerry Cantrell after playing 'Got Me Wrong' on the Unplugged album.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
